Need help with Multiplayer (different from below)

Recommended Posts

OK..I just bought the thing and want to play multiplayer but am having problems even getting a server list.

First thing; I have a firewall.

When I go to the multiplayer server list no servers comes up...nadda...zip... Do I need to open any ports on my Firewall? I have clicked on the 'internet' option. I also have the Gold Edition. I DLed the 1.3 patch and tried to run it, but it says I already have a newer version, wich is strange because the 1.4 patch says I need to install the 1.3 patch first :| . Whatever.

Second, when I try to play through UBI, the UBI software wants to DL a patch but it errors out. So that doesn't work.

How do you all connect? Through the game or UBI?

Thanks in advance for your help.

there won't be any games listed in the internet "room" ingame, until you have added them manualy....

what you need to know, is the hosts ip.

then you enter the ip into the adress bar, press join

i usualy conects with direct ip, but i use gressentials ( here )

I use a mix of both too, sometimes I go thru UBI sometimes directly!

A main question will be what type of Firewall are you running. Is it a Hardware type built into a router etc or a Software Firewall like McAfee, Norton etc etc?????

The UBI software is very touchy with Firewalls unfortunately and that's probably why you are getting the errors if it's blocking the downloads!

Thanks for the timely replys.

Yes I do have a hardware "consumer level" firewall/router. But, if you all don't use the UBI software, then I dont see a need to either.

I'll try the gresentials link and if I have any more problems I'll let you know ;) .
