GRIN Appreciation Society

Recommended Posts

A bit of background first.

I'm 42 years young and all my working life I have been involved in the IT industry on both the Hardware and Software sides. As well as this I have been an avid PC gamer from the very begining (Both MP an SP).

I also take part in beta testing on a regular basis (Mostly FPS's) and this is the reason for this post.

I would like to applaude GRIN and especially BO on their openess and frankness here at the GR.NET forums. I have seen more honesty and goodwill displayed here by GRIN than in many of the actual BETA's I have taken part in where we were SUPPOSED to have access to the Devs.

I truly believe we would have got a lot more a lot sooner if BO had had his way too.

No matter what the actual game turns out like, wether you like it or not, you can't fault GRIN for it's attitude to it's supporters.

GRIN & BO take a bow.

Yeah what he said

Also I think UBI could learn from this & allow other dev teams more freedom in future. It really has been a breath of fresh air to get feedback from the dev team. We know GRIN have been reading these forums & then looking at how they can build the ultimate game for us. Then they come in here, dispell myths, confirm facts & explain why they've done things a certain way.

End result is we know that they do give a **** & the community has maximum respect.

For me there openess has done more for PR than any ad campaign ever will.

Keep it up guys.

Respect :sheep:

Hi, my names Cookie... it's been three weeks since I last flamed a dev! Wait, oh, not that kind of society? *Reads thread* Oh! Yes! Very good job! I don't think I've ever seen a game that took so much input from the community that plays it. I think you have set a standard here that may never be matched. Hooah!

I would also like to say thanks to GRIN for all of their openness. I’m sure this has happened before with other developers on other forums, but it must be very rare. Another rarity is Bo’s “CEO chat sessionsâ€. CEOs from all over should take a quick lesson from Bo. If you want to build confidence and trust in your market audience, then talk to them. For us as a Ghost Recon core audience, we can’t really get anymore “insider†information than what we received from Bo on a relatively regular basis.

We should be thankful to each other as well. GRIN was also fortunate to have found ghostrecon.net. If they had tried to do this on the official GR:AW PC UBI forum, it would have been a disaster. If it were not for the mostly mature mentality that is fostered here on GR.net, this would not be a place for any developer to even consider coming to as GRIN has.

I agree!

GRIN, you guys rock!

Its not easy to work the hours you guys have been putting in lately. It takes its toll on the body. When Graw goes gold take some well deserved time off. Summer is on its way after all.

I am very appreciative at the participation of GRIN in this forum and the information and interaction. Not only is GRAW going to raise the bar for FPS tac shooters, it is going to cement GRIN's status as one of the foremost and innovative game developers.

Heck yeah! A "GRIN You Rock!" thread instead of a "WHERE IS THE DEMO WTFOMG?!" thread...

Grin does rock. Just from simple screenshots and very few things I've seen, they're doing bang-up work. If nothing else I give them props for not only talking with the community, but being apart of it (gotta love Bo's resposne to the M12A1).

GRAW has me psyched, I've had my pre-order since Christmas and will patiently await the release (it doesn't have me so psyched I'm gonna drop a grand to upgrade my PC, haha).

Keep it up GRIN. You guys (and gals) are awesome.

Psst... Bo... give this old tute writer a head's up on the Skinning aspect of GRAW will ya? :D

From everyone at FMJ ... about 9 of us now... we all thank you for the hard work and devotion you have shown to creating a game you truely believe in. I am sure this hard work will be seen by all. Again, you can not please everyone, but I have a feeling this might be as close as it can get.

Once again thanks...

Yeah this kind of open, lovey-dovey, backslapping gushfest normally makes my toes curl and my stomach spasm.

But in this case I have to add my thanks.

Any developer that can actually get anything to the public through UBI's firewall of silence must either have one big set of balls or ...

no, actually they must just have a big set of balls.

Here's to the GRAW team's big collective set of balls.
