MKCL 0
Problem: I run any mission in Quick Mission and I crash after playing for a bit. The amount of time varies each play through, and it happens no matter what the mission. However it doesn't crash during firefights. The only mods running are Desert Siege, Island Thunder, and Standard Upgrade 1.1. GR is patched up to 1.4. A little more detail as to what happens when the crash occurs. The game freezes and the mouse cursor appears sometimes with or without kicking me back to the desktop. Sometimes I am able to click on Start, but I can't choose anything on there since the resolution is messed up. (I play on 1280x1024x32) But my desktop I prefer to have at 1024x768x16. Any attempt to change the resolution results in complete lock. Ctrl-Alt-Del will not work. Only option is to cut the power. This just started happening so I hope to nip it in the bud as quickly as possible. I've re-installed twice so far, including drivers, and DX 9 so I'm holding off on a third time to see if there is anything else I can do. Ike log is as follows(from the last time it crashed): ***** User's system configuration ***** CPU: GenuineIntel 596 MHz Pentium III Coppermine RAM: 384 MB O/S: Microsoft Windows 98 4.10 A build 2222 Ghost Recon (RELEASE) version = 1.4.0.0(0) RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Creating a 1024x768 window at 0,0 on monitor Gateway EV910B attached to NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra RSDisplayMgr::CreateGameWindow: Game running on primary display Gateway EV910B attached to NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra HAL (hw vp): NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra R5G6B5 RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.tga RSFILEDATA: FindFile could not find file ike_fx_fire_type2.rsb Unable to find ike_fx_fire_type2.tga anywhere. Urban_Tiger 0
When u say "Standard upgrade 1.1", do you mean a mod or otherwise??? The missing files son't appear to be standard GR, DS or IT files and look more like mod files that are missing, thats why I ask lol. Someone else also recently posted somewhere else with their game contantly crashing after installing this "Standard upgrade" too, I just haven't bothered to find out if it is a mod or what people are actually refering to with it hehe!! Also, wanted to ask someone if they ran their game at 1280x1024......If I try and run my game in that resolution I get a black border around the game window and the ingame info text becomes absolutely huge too despite me scaling the HUD etc..... If I play it in 1024x768 it is completely full screen as normal!!! Anyone else seen this or is that just the way it is at that resolution?? The quality is awesome at 1280x1024 but it not stretching to a full screen is forcing me to stay with 1024x768 ! I also run my Desktop at 1024x768 from preference there too lol, does that effect the game aperture window if they are not set at the same values, anyone know?? MKCL 0
Standard Upgrade 1.0/1.1 is a mod by Earl that replaces all the standard weapons with new remoddelled/retextured weapons. It is one of the best mods out there and I definitely recommend it. Here's a link to one of this sites it is hosted on Baconbomb Hope he doesn't mind me posting the link here. The mod can also be found on GR.net's download page. Ty for the reply, I'll reinstall the mod and see if that fixes it. (I hadn't thought of re-installing the mod ) As for the resoultion question, I've found that when I have scale hud activated, it makes the reticle too big/small so I leave it off.(I'll have to check, I haven't had a game of GR in a bit and the withdrawal is causing memory lapses) But there is no black border present when I run the game at a higher resolution then the desktop. The above specified .chr Files are for their Body Models with the A & B LODs included as well ( Level Of Detail ) - Whereas the .rsb Files are for the Skinning of those Body Models. To Me - Your Ike Log says that Your Game is unable to find those Files and of course - Will Crash when "IT" is enabled as those Files appear to be missing. It almost looks like a Reinstall is in Order if those Files cannot be found. The only other way to remedy this would be to manually Install the Missing Files to their Appropriate Folder Locations within "Ghost Recon\Mods\MP2", and that is - If You can find those Files so as be able to manually Install them once found. As far as the "TES_Briefing.wav" File - I'd say that this File is a Modded Briefing .wav and is as well Missing from one of Your Mods or Missions that was loaded at that time by Your Installation of "GR". Again - To fix that Error - You'll need to locate that File and put in in It's proper place within that Mod or at least where that Mission expects to find that .wav File. MKCL 0
I'm not sure how much help this will be, but GR/DS/IT are working again. (Knock on Wood) I'm not sure if it was the reinstall, or the moving of texture files around manually. Regardless, thank you for your assistance Mac and Urban_Tiger. If there are any other difficulties regarding the same problem I'll be sure to add another post. But for now its running smoothly. Thank you once again, MKCL
