the.ronin
The gauntlet is down ... April ... a select few brave and skilled virtual advanced warfighters from GR.net will take on certain members of the RSE development team in a much anticipated competition. Because we here at The GDC, and GR.net in general, are such good sports (not), we have dedicated this GDC to spread forth our goodwill (not) to the enemy good people of RSE. Yes, design brethren, you will be designing “good luck†(sorta) messages to the lamers fine people of Red Storm Entertainment. You will wish them death luck and a good ass wuppin fine competition! Like the prior GDC, this one will also be freeform ... however, rather than deciding the classification, you are deciding the theme. In general, your theme will be die dev scum well wishings to the competitors of RSE – but the details are up to your fiendish sportsman imagination. Oh, and it has to be a "CTRL+A image". Welcome to GDC X ... a bastion of good sportsmanship!! (sorta) Theme: Good Luck RSE Classification: â€CTRL+A image Greeting Card Style: Static Image Size Maximum: 500 px wide x 500 px high; 250 kb Last Date of Submission: April 1, 2006; 12.00 am GMT Minimum Point Hurdle: 40 NO EXPLICIT PROFANITY OR NUDITY WILL BE TOLERATED. KEEP IT MEAN BUT KEEP IT CLEAN. NOTE THAT THIS GDC WILL END IN ONE (1) WEEK.

BornToKill
Opera sucks, it's got one of the worst DOM implementations of all browsers As a developer i can tell you each browser has it's pro's and cons. I just wish microsoft, mozilla and apple would work with the W3C in promoting standards. Anyhow this is a tricky GDC

BornToKill
Some tips i found that helped 1) Your main image should have a lot of colour variation going on in it, I also found adding Noise to the image helped. 2) your hidden image needs to be as flat as possible with very little variation in the grey scale. First, de-saturate the image (Shft+Cntr+U in photoshop). Then adjust the levels (Cntr+L) and select Options and set your Shadows,Midtones and highlights to be quite close in the spectrum. Then Finally adjust the Brightness and contrast of your hidden image until it's hidden when the Grid is not visible but shows when the grid is on. Hope that helps. the.ronin
Well, I know the theme of The GDC is there can be only one ... but c'mon people this is ridiculous!! In fairness, it was a bit of an experimental GDC trying to stretch the bounds of theme and application ... bound found! Notwithstanding the not-so-great turnout of this GDC, BTK came out guns blazin with a very cool very sneaky entry. No doubt, even if the full force of GDC competition came out of their eeewww-IE-has-cooties pink closet, his entry would have come out strong. Stay tuned for a Firefox compatible GDC coming up soon ... I think you clubbers out there will appreciate this next one!! GDC X IS FINITO, BENITO!
