There is a crash bug when trying to put an effect into clips, but none I know about for putting clips in.

There is a windows newsgroup I used to read that has some pretty good WMM support, if you can't find it I'll try and locate it.

Your trouble sounds like something other then to many open programs while using MSMM. I found the fewer open the less freezes and crashes I have with MSMM.

But even with no open programs, I have freezes.

There are many video formats available, and I read that some in particular crash

MSMM. I use mostly .avi and some others and had have pretty good luck. Virtual Dub is something I need to use in the future as those avi files add up into gigabytes pretty quick. Maybe you can find something here:

I'm a member of Windows Movie Makers, even those guys can't figure it out.

My movies can't go anywhere because of this now, and I'm starting to get kind of upset, as I have almost all of the mission recorded, I just can't get them edited and compressed. -shrugs-. I'm going to try recording in different formats. I mean, one of them HAS to work. Eventually. Hopefully.

I wondered why there had been no new movie. That sucks WMM is giving you a headache.

To get past this in the short term and get your movie out, why not download the trial for Ulead's Videostudio 9 and use that.

The thing about VS is that when you "split" clips, and select which parts of a larger clip you want to use, that VS does not diegard or delete anything, it just remembers not to use the discarded selections in the final compilation. Hope that made sense.

So in the timeline, you can move the marker to the start of a section you want to keep, or apply an effect to, hit the split (scissors) button, and it will cut the video at that point. Repeat to mark the end of that section, then apply your effect, or hit delete if you do not want that section.
