stormcrow
I have been into Rome Total War for some time now, in terms of real time battle strategy it really cannot be beaten. The battles are vast and can be viewed 360 and top down to command, or you can zoom in on individual units. Some of the battles are huge and similar to the lord of the rings battlescenes The way you can use cavalry units, direct missile and various infantry is awsome. The inclusion of siege weapons adds another dimension, especially at night when you have huge incendary missliles flying overhead as your vast army march on to the waiting barbarian hordes. The strategy map can played with army units and general/spies and diplomats alone without actually engaging in battle, in the same vien as the classic board game Risk. Only thing is its a real system hog when you get two armies with 5000 units a piece laying into each other. Screenshots and link Anyway..... I just wondered if anyone else plays this series. Avey
I've played Medieval and Rome plus the Viking and Barbarian Expansion packs. Its one of those games where you can play for 5 minutes and realise that you've been at it for more like 5 hours!

firefly2442
Yep, I love the series. It's certainly in my top 10 list for all time coolest games. Have you played the napolean mod from the lordz for Medieval?
connie lingus
Jeremy likes all RTS games, Doug doesn't: http://media.putfile.com/PurePwnage-MeetFPSDoug

Its been sitting on my desk for the last 2 months......
firefly2442
The demo for Medieval II: Total War is out. Lots of fun. They really improved the graphics engine from Rome. I certainly can't run it on high.
budgie
Yeah I played Shogun and medieval to death before getting burned out. I did the Rome demo and found it was good but at the time I was ratrher over it (as I recall it came close on the heels of medieval). I'm looking forward to getting back into Medieval II when it's released as it looks like a timely overhaul. In the meantime is anyone interested in me doing one of my 'classic' reviews of Shogun? That's the game that started it all.
Suicide Commando
Rome Total War is amazing. Love that game, one of the best RTS's I've ever played.
firefly2442
In the meantime is anyone interested in me doing one of my 'classic' reviews of Shogun? That's the game that started it all. My room-mate got the Total War boxset with Shogun, Medieval, Rome and all the expansions for all the games. He sold me his Shogun (original) game for $5 dollars. I just started a campaign with that. It's still a great game. I hope someone makes a mod for Medieval II based off Shogun, that would be sweet.
Kamakazi
I have heard rumors that the next game in the series is going to be Shogun 2: Total War, which I think is a great idea. But I don't remember where I read that.
Operative
I discovered this game last year. Really, I cannot play any other strategy game after this (well, I could give a try to Medieval II: Total War). After playing a lot of vanilla (unmodded game), I started to play some of the mods. What a blast! I am currently playing Ran no Jidai (and I'm thinking about contributing to their mod, now I got a copy of 3DS Max and can't put it to use in Ghost Recon). Another great mod is Rome Medieval. There are some limitations to the engine, of course. Also, keep in mind it's an old game, but Ghost Recon is too, isn't? I recommend it to everyone. For starters, play on easy and save/load until you get used to the gameplay. Then, play on higher difficulties settings and don't just reload after every defeat. Grab a copy and get in the mood for Rome 2: Total War, to be released in 2013
teppe
Oh year, i'm playing Medieval 2 and Empire, nice games. But i still think its one of those games where after you have played it in some time, (short time), its nothing more. Its not like, YES, i'm playing ETW now ´, if you have played it for some time. Operative
Well, there are several mods out there.
Operative
This is a paroramic screenshot of the (pre-Alpha) Siege of Carthage. http://tww-data.s3.amazonaws.com/panorama/index.html It's really, really amazing!
WytchDokta
I'm still waiting for Celt: Total War. It would make a nice change from the stereotypical RTS to be able to take on the role of my ancestors, and launch counter attacks against the allied Anglo-Saxon war machine that invaded Celtic provinces in Central Europe - and of course in the UK, declared our language obsolete and replaced with their own Nordic language, Ænglisc. teppe
I gotta go for Empire Total War: 2 or Medieval 3. That could bereally be amazing!
WytchDokta
While it can be very satisfying to 'get Medieval' the Medieval period has been covered, often incorrectly in games before. I say incorrectly because longbows and crossbows are never portrayed nowhere near as powerful as they actually were, nor melee weapons for that matter. There where even a few female Orders of knights (knights served 'Orders' back then) scattered across Europe and some even saw active combat. And in the unlikely event that you'd want proof because you don't believe me, look it up. But whatever, other periods like Vietnam and WW2 have been overdone in video games. Now it's all about zombies. How about something different, how about Celt: Total War.
Cobblers
So much has happened to the TW series since 2012, thought there would have been more activity.Anyone going to try out TW:Warhammer? I enjoy fantasy games like these, so due to my love to TW this could be a good fit. That said, I have found it hard to find much love for Attila bar the AoC DLC. Vanilla Attila was just a head###### fest for me.
