Cpl Ledanek 247
Ok, so I was playing RB6:LD demo and I see a new poster that wasn't there during the initial week of release of the demo. Now, since both game are own/published/produce or whatever by Ubisoft, will there be these posters that changes time to time in the retail game? How do they do that? Does you connection such as DSL and cable allow Ubisoft to advertise thru these posters in the game? Would there be any harm to your PC? I personally don't mind it, since having a dynamic environment changes the replayability of the game, or does it? I mean you can't use that poster as a landmark for mission briefings if the poster changes, right? Or was this old new?
insane snyper 0
Read, or heard about some study a few weeks ago, it really pertained to racing games. They were basically talking about how in a lot of the new car racing games companies can rent/buy billboards ingame. They concluded that the players dont generally mind it, that it was an ok advertising technique (they concluded that on the basis that some high percentage could recall seeing various companies billboards), but also that it wasnt going to be a major source of revenue for the game publishers. FWF.Osteo 0
I hate to say this as I usually moan during movie previews when I have to see adds on top of the previews but... I think it adds a bit of realism to see a Coke or Pepsi advert in the landscape. Advertising is so ubiquitous that if it isn't there its obvious by its absence! Dummy adds for products that don't exist seem to grab my attention more than adds for real products (which I guess my brain just kind of ignores as part of the scenery). I'm surprised this doesn't happen more 'cause if you watch most any movie now product placement is fairly obvious (a coke can with the label exactely placed in the middle of the screen, a HP monitor on a desk, an Apple notebook with the Apple prominatly displayed)... I would balk if I had to watch a full fledged ad during a game transition though! (announcers vioce: "After a nice deadly firefight, wouldn't you like a drink of Gatoraide? - screen slowly shows the Ghosts dripping orange and blue with the words "Is it in you?" on the screen)

ZJJ 74
Let me do a search here, but I believe Bo already answered this question as "no, there will not be ads" in the PC version. EDIT: found the thread.
