Why Vista will SUCK ! !

Recommended Posts

Yay!.... More Vista bashing...

I, for one, don't see how Vista tomorrow equals the Linux desktop today.

Easy... Windows is for idiots, the average Joe - Joe and Jeanne Six Pack if you will. Linux is annoying as hell for the average user and doesn't come with the same support (techniacl, or products) that Windows does.

Basically, I wont be installing Linux on my mom's PC anytime soon (and I've had it off of mine for quite a while).

Source the article... here it is: DesktopLinux.com... can we say "biased?" I can. I can also pretty much send this article out the window for that one reason alone. Of course a Linuz supporter will think Vista is gonna suck, because Linux is geared towards the nerds who can understand it, making it much more powerful than Windows. Again, not for Joe and Jeanne.

Wait! He admits it!

I write a lot about Linux, and I prefer it

Okay, to be fair he follows with...

my real specialty is that I know operating systems of all types and sorts, including Vista

You've already admitted your bias though, so any arguement coming from said writer can again, be tossed out the window. How can a biased article be a fair one for the un-baised reader?

First, let me say, I've been running Vista myself for quite some time.

Which means that it's still in Beta stage correct? I'll admit, I've been living a life since I last read about Vista, so I could be wrong. But to my knowledge the commercial/consumer product won't be availible until November. So... as with ANY Beta, it has issues, it's NOT a final product. Don't judge it based on that!

No matter what Microsoft ends up charging for it, the only way most people are likely to be running it is when they get a new PC

Joe and Jeanne aren't going to try and upgrade their XP machine on their own. The average user buys a PC and leaves the OS that's on it (which is why I have a 95 machine at work).

The ExtremeTech guys also say that Microsoft has done a good job of cleaning up Windows' use of memory management and heaps. They're right about that. What they don't mention is that Linux and Mac OS X have both done that kind of thing well for years.

Again, Joe and Jeanne won't be using Linux any time soon. As far as Max OS X... why bother with it? Windows appears more often in work environments and on (cheap) PCs the average user will work with. Not to mention, just about everyone learns on Windows first. So unless you're an avid PC user, why bother learning a new OS?

And, I don't know that it's going to suck yet, either.

Aha! He admits it! :)

Sooooo much negativity... ahhhhh!

Windows Vista will make me, and my new laptop, vewy vewy happy. And that's all I care about. And my friends Joe and Jeanne, that's all they care about too.

Well actually, the only thing keeping it from Joe Blow and Co. is they are afraid top try it.

You're also wrong about the support of it. All the big distrobutions provide as good or better support than Microsoft.

Actually, Winblows isn't for idiots. It's for people that just want to point and click, and do a few simple things on their PC. But to keep it up and maintained, it is definitely not an idiot.

Why not? That's what Betas and demos are for. And why not judge it on that? People judge Linux, the way you just did, before they've have substantially tried it.

For 89.00US, less than half the cost of retail XP, you can get SuSE Linux Professional, which has top notch support, better than Microsoft ever has been, books, tutorials, and all the documentation you could want. And the GUI is as easy to use as Winblows.

I feel like I'm done trying to convince people about what operating system they should use. I mean personally, I am not a big fan of Windows. I use it to play games... that's about it. The whole time I'm longing to boot into Linux. To each their own I guess. I just hope Linux gets easier to use so that more people can try it. Since there is no unifying driving force in the Linux community and everyone has different ideas on where they want it to go I'm not sure how long that will take. I guess I kinda agree with both of you. ;)
