Shouldn't that be the coveted Contest Winner badge and not a Supporter badge?   :ermm:

A supporter's badge was donated by Cobblers to The GDC as a prize and approved by Rocky.

The organizers of The GDC (the.ronin and myself) had free reign as to when this prize was awarded. We decided that since this contest was about gr.net and that entries may be used by the site it would be a good time to issue this prize in addition to The GDC sig tag.

Gooseman, "DS" is Dick Splash and people are referring to his entry here ... it is not an official entry since it does not meet the size specs.

 oh yeah that one ... I just got confuesed thats all, ithought he was gonna use it for the entry.. But he didnt as it seems ...

BTK, I like the added shimmers on the cross-com. I think that more could be done with the rocks ... it took my literally a number of viewings to realize that the shield was coming from the background.

I'm not too keen on how GHOST RECON is brought in ... if you have time, try messing around with a seered-in laser effect spelling out GHOST RECON. There are good sample movies in Flashkit.com.

Lastly, "definitive" is mispelled.

All in all, I thought it was a fine Flash entry which balanced design and animation reasonably well.

Thats a good idea, looks like it involves path plotting, something i've not used in flash yet.

I don't even know what onion skins are for yet either.

I was never 100% happy with the letters sliding in as it obscured the background to early (hence making it hard to notice what was happening).

Rocks?? what do you mean rocks, they're bits of exploding tank silly

As for the spelling i always sucked at English at school :stupid:

Another bit of eye candy would be to have two backgrounds - the one you have now and a "negative" image. Then you can have it check the computer clock to toggle daytime and night vision accordingly - like the official website.

I've never noticed it do that.......

goes off to look........................

So it does. :)

Can that be done in flash? ie invert an existing instance of the background or does that require 2 seperated files?

I used to have a sig that changed tint depending on the hour of day. An easy way to do it is to put the two day and night images in a MC each in their own keyframe (call it "background"). Label one "day" and the other "night" and put a stop(); action in each keyframe. In the main movie timeline, put in script that checks the clock's computer and depending on whether it's > or < certain hours, background.gotoAndStop ("night"); or background.gotoAndStop ("day").

[Edit] As far as I know, it requires two separate images - tints can be applied but I think you would hard pressed to achieve the night-vision look w/ just tints.
