mondo66
Is there anything that can be done to change the current size? What drives the 480x111? Most every where else I visit/hangout the max size 400x150, almost seems to be a standard size. This size change was a suggestion that I had made in the SOTW forum months ago when asked what changes we would like to see. Thanks for any info/answers you can provide. WhiteKnight77
Sig sizes were at one time held to 480x100. It was increased to 480x111 to include XFire sigs which are 111 pixels in height. Remember what Rocky said about sig pics, we want people to be able to read forums and not have to wade past large images to be able to do so. If we allow 150, people will push 175 or greater and a line has to be drawn somewhere. Sorry.
mondo66
I understand, there are still a suprisingly large number of dialup users out there still and big images with big file sizes can make paging thru the site a pain. It just seems that the file size of the image would be the biggest concern (which there already is, I think its 100k or less now and that is easy to work with). It just that the extra 39 pixels vertically while not sounding a lot is actually a lot of extra space to work in yet doesn't seem to be that much as far as scrolling thru a page. One thing that I have noticed in sites where they have sig comps, to reduce the image loading time for that page, when adding your comp sig they require you to diable your sig for that post. This is what my current would look like (quick chop job) going to 111. If I was to try and keep everything in the sig it would I would have to scale Dawn down and greatly reduce the quality of her image. As is my current and probably everything I produce would be to large.

mondo66
Ronin. Here is one that I set the width based on the scaling from 150 vert to 111 so the start is 540x150. Once I was done I scale the image down to 400x111.
Pave Low
As is my current and probably everything I produce would be to large. Plus you also have a second line of images at 31 pixels high and a line of text on top of your oversized sig The 111 height for the "Sig box area" is also meant to include total combined height of all images and text not an image of 111...... and then some other smaller images...... and some text as well some sites have a clearer sig area format, eg like this from a very popular site: Signature Ruler - Green for images, brown for text You do not have to have one image with text underneath, that is just a guide, however your image(s) must not exceed 100 pixels high and 600 pixels wide. Sig pics are creeping up in size again. Forum rules are 480x111 and 100KB or less. Staff can remove your sigs without warning after Feb 20th if you have not corrected your sig pic. Your cooperation is appreciated in reducing your sig pic sizes. Campaign buttons and Forum Awards are still allowed as is XFire sigs if you so choose. By that statement it is refering to the image only. Says nada about text and says you're also allowed to still use your forum adwards. That said, the template you presented would be great tool, using current dimensions allowed, for doing your setup. I however, think that awards should not count in any of the dimensions. "Hey, great job on the competition you won. Here is your reward, BTW you will have to scale your current sig dimensions down if you want to display the award." Thats like punishing for excelling. Like I said, you guys should come up with a template like the one you displayed. That would be a very useful sticky.
Zeko
While we r at sigs, how about this http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=30795 That sig breaks rule in all aspects except width! I know i had to remove my flash sig which was 20 pixels over height but was only 19 Kb big. I dont care about that sig in link cuz i have big monitor and fast connection but still so it doesnt matter to me so...
WhiteKnight77
I am still awaiting Dan's remake of a template he created earlier that reflected 480x100 at 50KB to one that fits the forum rules.
