February is starting out as not a good month for OFP sites

OPFEC is down, It could be serious this time

Nothing to add at present except that its a hardware problem and we're doing all we can to fix it.  News and developments will be published here when we have them.  Apologies for the inconvenience.

OFPEC is currently down due to hardware fault.

Our talented technical support crew are working on the problem around the clock to bring the site back up again.

We will update this page when more progress is made, and hope you will bear with us during this period.

OFPEC Progress Report - Week Ending 10th February

In this, the first of what will be a hopefully be weekly updates, I'll outline what has brought OFPEC down and what we are doing about it.

What happened

At the end of January, while undergoing a hardware upgrade our servers had multiple critical hardware failures. We feared all was lost, all data, our forums, everything.

I am pleased to announce we have managed to salvage our databases (which also contain our forums), and are still working to try to salvage resources that had been submitted to OFPEC.

However the site code is pretty much gone.

Where we stand at this point

Before the hardware failure, plans had been underway to update OFPEC to better cope with the release of ArmA and the needs of the community. The plans were going to involve a full site rebuild and forum upgrade.

These plans have now been fast tracked.

Instead of resurrecting the 'old' OFPEC, we will be launching a 'new and improved' site.

Progress thus far

We ordered new hard drives last week, to be set up in a configuration that gives us an extra level of fault tolerance. They have arrived and our host, Hubba, now has our database servers back up. He is now installing our site back-end, and working at getting that up and running.

We be getting our forum up first, and launching the rest of our site as work on it is completed.

More to come next week.
