Solinus 0
I swear I've tried everything in PSP7 to edit kit icons. No matter what I do, saving the file results in the Plugin generating a General Protection Fault (and thus no save occurs). Of course, it works fine for editing / saving any other RSB files, such as map textures or splash screens. After many hours of experimenting with alpha channels and masks and layers, I finally resorted to saving my work as a BMP file and then using RSBEditor to convert the file to RSB format. Once in RSB format, I edit it again to enable Alpha Blending, like the other kit icons have, and everything seems to work and look okay -- except when I get into GR, there's just a light blue square where the icon should be. The tutorial on kit icons only mentions how to do them in Photoshop. I've done searches on Google as well as on this forum on kit icon editing, but there's just nothing out there for Paint Shop Pro. Any help? Or am I stuck having to buy Photoshop just to edit some stupid kit icons?
Avey 0
People came to the conclusion over at the platoon.com that you couldn't do it with PSP. I certainly never could so i got Photoshop!!
GRIN_Wolfsong 0
It's the same problems you can get whit older PS as well when alpha channels are involved. The DS plugin can save all types of alpha channels except those for map textures and transperant character skin parts, that works with PS 5 and up. it will save the other ones as well but not in the right way, so they will not work in game. Just like PSP does with the alpha channels with icons and such. The IT plugin can save all types of alpha channels and those functions work with PS 7.
Russub2 0
Do the conversion from a tga instead of a bmp. this seems to work just fine for me. -r
