Well, here it is, Dick Splash's efforts at a GR:AW fridge magnet. This is a scan, it is actually a magnet, with Dick's GR:AW images professionally mounted on the top side.

NOW who's got it worse? I don't think we need a Poll for this one folks!  :P

Oh, and did I forget to mention - he sent one to the GR:AW dev team at GRIN!!!!

Dick, you da man.

I think we should change our video cards... this is a test if your video card will support GRAW. If you only see the skeletal motion capture, then it wont support GRAW

I can't believe I spent $6 for an advertisement and the right to spread that advertisement. Shouldn't they be paying me for this?!?!?!

Also, I don't how Imageshack is going to feel about me hosting adverts in their free space. If one of you mods wants to host the files here at GR.net to make sure they stay up, feel free to put them on your server and change the links in the above post.

p.s. If UBI objects to my posting of their ad, they can PM me for the address to send the $6 to. ;)

LOL, yep, that's the way it works I am afraid, I can personally vouch for that!

Thanks for the scan! :D

Sigh, The site admin approving scans of material from magazines, thereby breaking copyright laws. :nono:

Time for another warning level increase. At this rate he will be banned by Valentine's Day.

Yeah. Rocky really should get on the phone to Ubi and get permission to have their add scanned to his site. And get permission from the magazine to copy it from their publication.

This could, if they wanted to pursue it, get very ugly for Rocky. He could potentially face multiple lawsuits here. not to mention get the site shut down by his webhost for violating copyright laws.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Copyright infringement? Yes. Definitely. Absolutely.

Could get very ugly for Rocky? No way. Really, please. Multiple lawsuits? Please. The site shut down? Absurd.

UBI isn't run by morons, and it would take morons to shut down their upcoming game's best fansite for posting an advertisement for their game, for posting an advert in a forum for fans so rabid that they're clamoring to see ANY new media, even an ad.

That said, it is possible they have a zero-tolerance intellectual property rights stance, which might result in:

Worst case scenario: Rocky receives a form letter (e-mail) from UBI lawyers insisting he take the scans down or else face legal action. Rocky removes scans. Problem disappears. And Rocky probably receives an email from someone he knows at UBI saying it's not a big deal -- just don't allow it again.

More likely scenario: No lawyers. Rocky receives email from someone he knows at UBI asking him to take them down and not allow it again.

Best case scenario: If they say anything at all, they email him and say "We're giving you permission. In the future, just email us beforehand, and it won't be a problem."

Everyone familiar with George Lucas, the intellectual property rights jack-ass extraordinaire? When TheForce.net posted a 95% complete script for Attack of the Clones six months before the movie's release, Lucas nicely asked the site to take it down. Lucas did that.

I think Rocky's site is safe from the nuclear option.

I'll admit zjj's was hardly obvious, I had to read it twice to convince myself she was joking.

Even now I'm not so sure, she usually uses a relevant smiley. The ones she used makes me feel like I am really getting a row!

Actually, TECHNICALLY speaking, he could get in trouble for this. TECHNICALLY SPEAKING.

And Ubi isn't the only one who could possibly nail him. The magazine could also, if they wanted to get nasty about it.

True, it's highly doubtful that either scenario would come to pass. But it is highly illegal to use intellectual property, electronic, print, video, or audio without express permission from all sources involved, and without citing those sources in a very detailed manner. I would at least cover my ass by citing the sources, and giving credit where it belongs. most people won't give a damn as long as they get credit for their work and ideas.

And we all know that no one is nitpickier about this crap than software developers in GENERAL, and the media.

it was a heads up. This could conceivably cause Rocky a ton of grief, and he should be aware of that fact.

And no, I wasn't joking. I was very serious. I'd hate for Rocky to get into trouble because someone at the magazine, or in Ubi's marketing department had a bad day, or didn't get laid or something, and decided to be an ###### and call him out on it. It has been done for less, and we have seen it. If they were really going to be tight asses about it, they could sue the poster too, for posting it without permission.

@wk,

Go ahead and make fun, but i have seen it happen. hell, we have seen it happen time and again here with free mods, much less paid advertising involving multi-million dollar corporations. these days intellectual property is more valuable than physical property, and it would do everyone a bit of good to be a bit cautious with everyone being sue crazy.

At least cite and credit the sources to protect yourself.

Hell, in school, you can't even quote someone without a full citation.

Intellectual property rights are very serious issues these days, especially if you are in a highly visible, public domain.

I'll tell you how worried am I about this. It's going on the news page  :P

Like I said, I doubt either would happen.

But you should be aware, because technically, you can get your ass handed to you.

I just thought you should be aware of it is all. just trying to help.
