Stinger 0
I remember back when I got my Altec Lansing 251 Speakers that in the manual it said not to put the sub by the monitor like at least 2 ft. away. I was like okay whatever and went ahead and followed the directions. But 4 some odd months later I was thinkin okay yeah Im sick of all the bass being at my crouch. So I move it up right next to my monitor. Immediatly I get discolration and a beautiful rainbow monitor. I was too scared and 4got to take pics but it was wierd lookin. So I moved it away and all is okay though. Wierd thing is I see people all the time with subs by their monitor ######? Any ways for me to have a normal monitor and a sub within an inch of eachother? This happen to u guys too?
Havok 30
yeah prolly has to do with the magnet in the sub...but i'm not sure just my guess..never had the problem cause my sub is way too big to put near monitor Edited March 18, 2003 by =UAL=Havok
NightCrawler 137
If you sub has the proper shielding it shouldn't bother the moniter to much. And yes it is the magnet, if left that close for to long will cause permanant damage.

Dark Ranger 0
Stinger, It is not that Altec Lansing is a bad company, because it isn't. It is because of the Unshielded Driver (speaker, cone, etc) that is affecting your display. The magnetism generated from the voice coil magnet pulls at the electrons shot from the cathode ray tube, hence your distorted picture. Most multimedia speaker systems will say whether they are magnetically shielded or not. Your obviously isn't. I would recommend you keep that sub away from your system... Nice sig too, however, very difficult to read the text...
