snared_gambit
I think the point of having a GLBT clan is just because you usually have friends with similar interests. If you're a christian, you're probably going to be friends with a lot of christians. If you're black, white, green, asian, anything, you're going to probably have friends that are like you in real life. Same property applies on the internet. Cpl Ledanek
Is it true that Brokeback Mountain is a western movie without high-noon shoot outs and American Indians using Blue-tooth devices vs smoke signals?
Janie42
@Sup, I'm thoroughly enjoying your posts: they're informative/empirically based ; calmly presented , AND humourous. Kudos to you, IMHO.
WhiteKnight77
I know this is an off topic thread, but it looks to me that this thread has veered off it's original course. As far as Blizzzard closing the guild, it is within their rights to set rules for using their servers just as it is Rocky's perogative to set rules for people to abide by here. If the woman created a guild that went against those rules, she has no ground to stand on as she agreed to the terms with no questions. It makes no different what her sexuality is. If she chose to bring it in, then she needs to face the consequences. I can see a parent being concerned about the people around where their kids play and they should be, especially now in the age we live in with such instant access via games, IM's, or other ways to chat. Without seeing who is on the other side of the screen, it could be anyone no matter what sexuality who is after a child for indecent purposes. If I was a parent, I would be concerned myself who my child associated with while online. As to post counts, no posts in the Off Topic Posts forum count towards the post count. You should have known that Prozac. Right now, this thread will not be locked, but keep politics out of it or it will be.
Dannik
Right now, this thread will not be locked, but keep politics out of it or it will be. ← Indeed. The reason this thread has not been locked or removed is that people have been honest to their feelings, without attacking the stance of others. Keep it clean, and this might be the very first GR.net 'political' thread that runs it's course without intervention. We all have opinions. It's nice to see that we can express them without resorting to personal attacks. There have been a few borderline comments by a few borderline members (you know who you are) but in general, it's been an interesting, respectful discussion. Yay respectful. johnnyblossom
I'd just like to say a few things, please? I never said I was an expert, and I didn't criticise anyone. I didn't say how children should be raised. Statistics can be misused by everyone, including Gender Studies students . I think there was a presumption that by using the word 'straight', I was blaming men for the majority of child abuse. This may have offended many people reading here. I am in no way suggesting that women do not abuse children, let alone that lesbian women are somehow incapable of such. If a person abuses a child of the same gender, that makes them a paedophile, NOT a homosexual. A 'normal', adult homosexual is a individual who has chosen to have romantic relationships - sexual or otherwise - with other adults of the same gender (bit of a generalisation, sorry). In the same vein, I would suggest that a paedophile who abuses children of the opposite gender is not, for useful purposes, a 'normal' adult heterosexual individual. I think someone made a similar point, and I wanted to reiterate it, as it seemed to me an important distinction. I didn't mean to upset anyone, and I'm sorry to make this serious post. I think some of you will see why I thought I should, and I won't post anymore in this thread. Thank you for bothering to read this, folks.
