Specter 0
Get a load of this. Microsoft is 2 years late getting Vista out, they are going to be another full year at least with the next XP service pack, and they are already into the next monstrosity.

Papa6 88
NEWS 9 Feb 2006 New York(AP): Microsoft has alerted New York computer crimes squad to what has been an apparent theft of Windows Vista Operating system. Sgt Talbert tells Associated Press that the Redmond based software developer is up in arms and is thinking of pursuing legal action against the suspects if found. The Crime? Stripping down the Windows Vista operating system. One source who wished to remain anonymous due to his undercover work in this case showed us a photo of what the police found left at the crime scene. One officer did comment that Bill Gates' chances of getting damages to the OS being stripped are slim as he and Redmond left the suspects little if anything to take from the OS."Bill has already stripped Windows vista down to an unusable state already.." Windows Vista is the newest installment of Windows which adds..well DID add new technologies for an upcoming release later this fall.AP's investigation found that Redmond has removed and stripped those crucial technologies such as the hit "WinFS" filesystem and later many new features just to make a 2006 release. Specter 0
Yeah...everything that put Vista 2 years behind has been taken out...all the things that MIGHT have made it a halfway bearable Microsoft product. This already smells to high heaven of being a realllllly, reealllllllllllllllllllllllllllly expensive repeat of the ME fiasco. LINUX ! ! LINUX ! ! LINUX ! ! LINUX ! ! LINUX ! ! LINUX ! ! LINUX ! ! firefly2442 0
What is the official release date for Vista? Do they even have one?
Papa6 88
I'd venture to say that OSX version 10.4.4 would be better. I read it has wine and that wine is SUCH an improvement that it runs windows apps perfectly(from what I've seen). Plus AMD and Intel are going to be adding virtualization parts to thier CPU's this year you can run 1 OS on the main core and another OS on the other, reboot windows and the virtualization part running say linux will still be running. Added:I Won't be going to Vista. Release is only late 2006 perhaps fall timeframe Edited February 10, 2006 by Papa6
pz3 338
ill buy what ever works. vista doesnt look horrible IMO, but not great either, Im hoping some of the graphics features wich they say are so great will be put to good use. DX10 rev2 cards come out I'll probly buy a pair along with vista if its been patched up to work good by then.

I sure won't pay what they are charging for XP's version of the ME fiasco with Vista. XP is going to be supported at least 2 more years. So guess what? That gives MS 2 more years to see if they can iron out what were Vista's biggest selling points were, the filesystem, IE7, which the reviews are so mixed on, that I won't even try it, just because I no longer have any crashboxes. What we have here now, are 7 upcoming versions of Windows XP's version of The 98/ME joke. Right now, we all have to remeber that the core of Vista is XP, and without alot of the advertised, promised features, like the FILESYSTEM(Yeah, small point, I know) , you really have to ask yourself if it's worth 200.00-600.00 of your hard earned money, for nothing more than some eye-candy, and half-formed programs, like directx 10, and some of the others that were supposedly being written for the filesystem that we are no longer getting. They are going to support XP until at least 2008. Put your money into games and hardware. Wait till this is out at least 6 months, before you blow 2 weeks wages on something that will ###### you off. In this case, the early bird will definitely get something, and a worm it won't be. It will be the shaft.
