nib
Yeah, can you believe it? There was still someone on the planet that hadn't played GR online until just last night. I've been aprehensive about getting online since this game seemed to be much more about teamwork than most. I have played Wolfenstein online a bit and understand teamwork, but Wolfenstein is just different. A bit more open I guess. Anyway, I had been looking for a good server for a couple days with no luck. I don't have any of the expansions yet and there are literally 4 servers in the US that run the vanilla GR. They're all usually full too. Last night though, I finally got on to one of the SAS servers. Initially, I just observed to try and get a feel for it. I found it rather difficult to tell one team from another, they both have very similar uniforms. I finally joined on the second game. Had a real blast. On my very first mission (swamp level) I actually got a kill and rescued a hostage. Only one accidental TK and that was because the guy was really far out and I didn't get my sight on him accurately enough to see his status. (Ironically enough, this was the ONE guy that actually warned me not to TK since I was new ). He was totally cool about it though. Even got a legit kill on him in a later game. Overall, great fun and I'm in the process of getting the expansion packs so I can have more servers to choose from. I didn't see the teamwork aspect that much, but I expect that's kinda normal for large, public servers like this. A couple guys did start working together so it was good to observe them work. I think I may have finally found my new addiction I haven't had a game that kept me very intersted since I played wolf (and mapped for wolf as well). Zantar45
Mostly the team work aspect of GR online is, cover team member until they move up or take one area, cover, watch map , so on and so forth. BUT, I said BUT -there are teams/clans/groups that use Team speak or Roger Wilco, and they actually use real team work, since they can communicate and explain strategies on the fly without needing to type. ( its amazing to sit back and watch a T/C/G using team speak) Overall GR is one of those games that can be played online useing whatever strategy you can think of, ehich is why it is so freakin fun. Good luck, have fun, and happy shooting.
nib
One question, I've noticed this on SP and MP games. Somtimes, for no apparent reason (I'm not wounded or anything), I move slower than I normally do. Now, I noticed that I moved slower when I had a hostage following me (I assume this is normal), but my movement rate didn't return to normal after I returned the hostage. Is this a bug? SOTOMac
It seems to Me like You need some C0-0P nib... In C0-0P Mode there is no one but Bad Guys ( Tango AI ) and You ( the Good Guys ). This is where the Real TeamWork comes out, and once You get a Taste of that - You'll never be the same. Not to say that there isn't TeamWork in Adv. Its just more chaotic as most if not all of Your SquadMates are usually not used to Your ROE or don't even care about It. Its all about Kills in Adv. for the Most part from what I've seen. I'm Glad to Hear that You had a Good time too. Sincerely,
nib
Is there an option where coms real players are the tangos? That seems like it'd be a bit better and more competative. As far as finding a coop game, my problem at the moment is simply finding a regular ghost server Seems everyone has the expansion packs. What happens to me is, when Im running and looking at the map at the same time, I let go of map while moving, then run-so now im walking without stopping, I then hold run again and it makes me walk.I immediatly let go of all buttons/keys, and then I can run again. You can be more then half way to your base and the hostages following you will be all the way back at the enemies base. They dont move fast enough, I guess you have to bribe them or something. The Hostages cant be killed, so I guess they make them slow so that the other team has a chance to sneak up behind you and take them while your on your merry way back to base. BTW, one time I was the last man on my team in SAR, and I was a sniper. We had 2 hosties on our base , and one was near, I waited for the other team to get all three from us then I ran out of the bushes while they were half way to their base. I snatched all 3 and ran back to our base and won it. They didnt even notice until they got to their own base.
nib
Hmm, I do look at the command map a lot so that may be part of it. I'll have try see if that's the problem.
