Stinger 0
I have 2 questions, how much power (specs) would be needed for a server pushing around 1Mb or less files with about 200 people using it? Same thing except for about 700 users using it, and lastly what about a server manging the forums like gr.nets or another large forum? Thanks and Im not interested in buying/building one at all I'm just checking the size so I can get a better idea.
firefly2442 0
What kind of server? HTTP?
Stinger 0
Lets go FTP since that is most likely what I would do if ever. And then gr.net or the big forums whatever they are...?????(what are they again?) Edited March 17, 2003 by Stinger
firefly2442 0
I would think it would depend on what OS you were running as well as what other programs and things you would want to do with the computer. If it was a dedicated computer used only for hosting the FTP or Forum you don't necessarily need a high end computer. Running your favorite version of Linux and having a decent amount of memory is probably the most important thing. You won't need a high end graphics card because it won't be used much. As for the processor, I've heard of some servers running off a half gig processor and doing ok. I don't know what the server size is though...
