What's weird is, sometimes when I start a program, doesn't matter what really, and there is no real pattern to this, but my screen resolution goes all bonkers, and goes as large as it can, and back to 16 colors. I'm talking bigger than 640X480. I'm using the Forceware 77.77 drivers, as the 81.90's gave me issues with AA/AS and other features not working properly. Any ideas? Getting tired of having to reboot all of the time. Edited January 14, 2006 by Specter
CR6 0
Likely a video driver issue. I'd try some different drivers: older ones, Omega's etc. Wow, you're still running a Quantum HD? I loved them: Still have a few <10GB kicking around. An aside: Quantum swallowed by Maxtor, now Maxtor swallowed by Seagate ... what's next?
Cpl Ledanek 247
try the 81.98 driver 29.8 mb ***like I know how to help***
Rocky 1,224
I get a similar thing very infrequently, where the screen goes to a very small resolution, I can only see part of the desktop, and there is horz. banding. I was rebooting too, which was a pain because it usually meant I had to press the reset button, which isn't always a good idea. Anyway, I found a great way to get it back to normal, hopefully it will work for you. Press Windows Key + L. This is the log off button, but for me it forces the monitor back to the correct resolution, and I can log back in to a normal desktop.

So far, since i cleaned out all video drivers, ran driver cleaner, rebooted, and re-installed the drivers, it hasn't been an issue. If it comes up again, I'll let ya know how that works. Thanks! RatoN 0
Also, right click on the desktop, properties, settings Change the resolution to something else, apply. When asked to keep the modification, choose No. That should bring it back.

I couldn't change the resolution to save my life after that happens.
