So why hasn't UBI commented on the release....

The release date has not changed. It's always been Q4 of this fiscal year, which is Jan-March 2006. What's displayed at the Ubi.com store is just some employee revising the page, and 'fixing' the start date, despite there being no actual change.

Don't read too much into it. Ubisoft is a massive company. Sometimes, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. That is all.

Ohh no. It was a launch title at one time. I saw Serellan say it more than once. It was pushed back to Feb...so it has not always been "Jan-March 2006".

It was even posted on the UBI boards.

Big already posted what I would have said to the above. To add a bit more fuel to the fire, The release date that Gamestop shows for the game is March 1. The same date as Gears of War and a few other games I seriously doubt will make it in March. March 1 (or any month + 1) is used as a place holder by Gamestop when companies have not told them of a specific release date. From years of past experience, these dates slide backwards 99% of the time.

Now maybe the game will release in March and Ubi/RSE just haven't pinned an exact day due to playtesting and production issues. Perhaps. But just don't be too terribly surprised if the game doesn't see store shelves in March. It's been delayed twice already, first as a launch title then as a February release.

Holding it until April-June won't cost Ubi any money as there will be more 360 owners out there by then to buy the game. If Ubi knows that M$ will have a significant number of more 360's available for purchase/already installed by a date later than March then it is in Ubi's interest to hold the game. If they release it early it will be stale and used copies will be available by the time a significantly greater number of people own a 360.

This is why I specifically said 'don't read too much into it', as I didn't mean that since the GRAW project started, I meant that the current official release date is Q4 Fiscal 2005, as of Ubisoft's internal schedule. Any other release date, Feb, March, is mere interpolation by internal staff.

I say again: Don't read too much into it. It's just paperwork, not 'official delays'.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter delayed until Feb 2006

Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, is pleased to announce that it has decided to devote additional time to perfect the next installment in its award-winning squad-based military shooter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. The game will launch worldwide for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in February 2006. The additional time devoted to the development of this title will allow Ubisoft to offer gamers the best episode ever of the award-winning Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise and will enable the game’s development teams to optimize the application of Xbox 360 technology. The delay of the release date will not impact Ubisoft’s revenue forecasts for the fiscal year.

This highlighted statment is still the official release time, but this month still falls in the last quarter, so they could release in March if they needed to, according to the release schedual.

The March web page is an old page with the past cover work on it,I suspect they will leave it up just to create interest and speculation, and that seems to be working.

I say again: Don't read too much into it. It's just paperwork, not 'official delays'
He is right.

I think that most of us will have already figured out Ubisoft's release date strategy already..... (We saw it with Lockdown and GR Summit Strike amongst others)

Publish the same release date for multiple upcoming titles (Such as Kong and GR, or Summit Strike and Lockdown)

See which one looks like the best bet, release it and put the other back to avoid competition

Use the excuse "Ooops we'll hold it back a little to give the developers time to improve the software and give gamers the best experience, but it won't be long!" then give new date hoping people will save the money and not purchase competition..

If competition still selling strongly close to revised release date, or if another publisher has something good coming out, put it back again!

Release when the competition is "Old hat" and there is nothing else big being released around that time.......

Clean up and pocket the cash!!!!

Dannik, Colin

I understand what you are saying but if you tell the public February and it comes out in march then it was delayed. They said February...how can it get more official than that? They didn't say January – March 2006....they said February. To them January – March 2006 might be the plan but that's not what they told the public and no one cares about "Q4 Fiscal 2005"....they care about when the game comes out and in this case they were told February. I'm not sure how you can say that's not a delay.

^ From the UBI boards...I have to say that, that is about as official as it can get. So February is/was/who the hell knows anymore the date.

Now all that said it could be only a few days into March. I'm just saying that I want to play the damn game and I'm becoming like Gollum from Lord of the Rings because I want this game so bad.

I don't even care about the stupid 1st person weapon view anymore.....I just want to play. :wall:

Ok, I'm done crying. :)

:) Its a toys for boys thing, we have been waiting sooooooooo long.

All develpoers change deliv dates as is normal really.

I preordered 2 copies for pc this month.

When it comes it comes thats it really.

I realy think the main point here is a company being proffesional in its approach to its public.

For instance, leaving a web page up with march on it all though the web page is well out of date.

They must know this causes confusion but still it remains in place this to me is very unproffesional.

I think the option of 4th quarter which is now in writting is a good way to go.

IE between Jan and March.

So we waite, mind it goes to show you that this type of policy causes mistrust in its public domain.

We have people here who work on these boards who are more proffesional in their approach to the information given out, UBI would learn a great deal by doing as we do here, with information and how accurate it is and when it is published.
