XavierOnasis 0
Have any of you had any (good) experience playing Ghost Recon on a notebook? Specifically with a GeForce4 4?0 Go GPU. Probably getting a new computer in the near future (as in tomorrow or the day after) My trigger finger's becoming itchy Thanks for your time, guys
WhiteKnight77 1
Some newer notebooks will run GR, but I would test it before I bought it if you intend to game with it. GR isn't really set up to run on a laptop, but ya never know. The biggest thing is ghosting with the LCD screen. If I were to recommend, I would just get a regular PC. For what a notebook goes for, u can get a really good PC.
XavierOnasis 0
Bah, WK... Forcing me to wander from my topic.. Notebook's a 2.4 gigahertz P4, 512 megs of DDR, and has the aforementioned gpu for $1399.99. From a major brand-name manufacturer, no less. The box I'm on now (the same box I participated in many-a-recon session with) has less than half the processing speed, half the ram, and has a video card that's two generations prior to the laptop's.While not advertised as a gaming laptop, everyone I've spoken with who has owned them have said that they run nearly every game flawlessly. For that price, I could get a better desktop, but they're somewhat unwieldly to drag into and set up in a lecture hall. Hope all's well.
WhiteKnight77 1
Well if everyone does play games on it, I don't see why not. I still would test it myself. I'm doing good, btw. You should have joined the games tonight.
XavierOnasis 0
I never did fix my random crashing problem of yore, and my original GR disc is in the posession of a Guardsman who won't be back until Thanksgiving (providing he keeps his damn head down). Gotta buy IT as well. Factor in a few days to get my Recon Legs back, so to speak, and I probably won't be online for a week. *sigh* So much to do, so little time. Dark Ranger 0
When Ghost Recon was designed, it was for desktop application, not a laptop or notebook enviroment. Processing power and video resourses are significantly lower than their desktop counterparts. However, many companies are increasing laptop performance dramatically. Alienware is one company that manufactures a High-Performance laptop. Keep in mind that if you want performance from a laptop, you will certainly pay for it. But they do have advantages over desktops, as in your case you will benefit from them. You can also check out NewEgg.com and GoogleGear.com for prefab laptops.
