Problem switching POV and Squads

Whenever I change points of view, or switch to a different squad, the game malfunctions. By malfunction, I mean that I cannot move, or do anything. I can still see and hear what is going on around me, but I can no longer play, or switch back to whichever mode or squad I was in before.

My system:

XP Home

512mb Ram

Geforce2 64MB

Athlon 1.4Ghz

I've updated my drivers, and my GR version is 1.4.0.0

I downloaded the game from Direct2Drive, which I am not happy with. I plan to buy GR in a store soon, but I fear I'll have the same problem.
