SteelHack
Anyone miss the Xwing series of games. That first XWING game is why I bought a PC. I bought the game before the PC. XWING.....TIE FIGHTER....then XWING VS TIE FIGHTER were some of the best games ever made. Upon looking through the most recent PC GAMER...it appears a good 95% of all games are the 3rd person shooter...and unfortunately they mostly all pale in comparison to our own GR and RB6 games. I would love to be flying my Xwing with my company on my wing. HACK
Specter
I do. I still have them(all of the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series') and love them. I also like Wing Commander Series(the reason I bought a PC way back when), the Privateer Series, Freelancer, StarLancer, and Independence War 1&2. I love space Sims, as much as I do TacSims. Just about everything else is just software. There are some other oldies that I like, but they don't fit in this category.
firefly2442
X Wing Alliance is awesome. The graphics are still pretty good for todays standard. Awesome story too.

SteelHack
Why LucasArts is ignoring the genre that basically put them on the map...is beyond me. Especially when everything is first person shooter...It would be something different in a sea of clones. ATTACK OF THE CLONES was right. DeltaDude
They should really do an update of TIE Fighter, using the graphics and gameplay advancements available today. Wow, what a great experience it was to fly for the Imperial Navy.
whoa182
X wing Alliance used to be one of my favourite games. I haven't really seen a space sim like around for ages. The story was great ! Also I used to enjoy wing commander 4 when i had my 486 pc. With the graphics cards available today and in the near future, they could really create some amazing battles with hugely detailed battleships, planets, moons etc... maybe someday in the future we'll see some more. WhiteKnight77
There is a free space flight type sim called Orbiter. I am not sure of theURL to grab it from right now, but AVSIM has a bunch of mods for it too.
rcrph
Freespace. Now that was an awesome space sim. And the best thing about it was the great mission editor. I spent zillions of hours creating missions on that one. I still keep it on my hard drive.

My buddy had it..and it sure was pretty to watch....he loved it... But I want to be sitting in my cockpit...with my HOTAS setup...not flying outside my ship with a mouse. seriously...I heard it was a great game..just not what I am looking for in a true space flight sim HACK

WhiteKnight77
Believe it or not, RSE made a space flight sim type game called Bang! Gunship Elite.
Hatchetforce
Best is a game I beta tested - Klingon Academy. Nothing like it's predecessor, you really feel (I still have it installed) in command of a massive battle cruiser. Ships rip apart to reveal lower deck plates, you can knock down shields and beam assault troops aboard, and there is General Chang, Christopher Plummer. JFSebastian
There is a new one out which I only bought a couple of days ago called X3 Reunion. It is a cross between Freelancer and (my all time favourite) Wing Commander. Freespace was a better playing game than Wing C in some ways, but will never forget the way the original WC just made the PC game come alive, even though it took about a couple of hours to load it up off about 20 x 1.3" floppys!.. I will let you guys know what X3 is like after I learn it. http://pc.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r26092.htm JF
Suicide Commando
Wing Commander was my first PC game love before R6. It really was like you were part of a movie, especially in 3 and 4. Those of you who have X-Wing Alliance, this website updates ship models and textures to contemporary standards. http://www.xwaupgrade.com/ Tie Fighter was so amazing too. Still have it and all the expansions. Edited December 15, 2005 by Suicide Commando
dickie
X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance are the only games I keep a Winblows PC for, and even a reason I'm upgrading it. Anyone play the last two online? Once my PC gets the new parts installed (I'm getting a friend to do it, incase I kill it) anyone up for a little dogfight or two?
DeltaDude
On top of SC's post, here is another good site for you X-Wing Alliance fans. I also just learned that there is a TIE Fighter Total Conversion for X-Wing Alliance. It has about half-of the battles (campaigns) converted at this point. Ah, the memories! I went through 3 legit copies of each of the WC games, I played them so much. WC# is definitely a favorite, and I liked 4 also. WC5 was OK, but without really a decent story or good FMV cutscenes, I didn't care for it as much as the others.
