GR causes an error message in Windows XP (Home)

Recommended Posts

After installing GR onto my computer, I try to start it and get this error message "Ghost Recon.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience." I've uninstalled and reinstalled GR twice to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Couple Q, This is GR1 from original cd ?

Is cd new or old, clean, scratched etc.

Nothing else installed to do with GR ?

And whats your Computer Spec just main components and OP System.

All can be found in sys information.

This is GR1 from original cd.

The cd is new, in good condition and not scratched.

Only required GR patches from ubi.com are installed for GR (GR patch 1.3 and GR patch 1.4).

Computer = Dell Dimension L500r - Intel Pentium III processor, 500Mhz/256MB RAM, 100GB HDD; OS = Windows XP Home edition SP2, video card and sound card are factory installed (updated drivers for the video card are installed).

Even after I installed the patches, the problem persisted. Hope this helps.

What mods (if any) do you have installed?

It is possible for some mods to conflict with other mods (mainly the same type of mods though, i.e two sound pack mods) if activated at the same time. Mods can be de-activated outside of GR, via the modscont.txt.

The patches I downloaded were from the GR webpage @ www.ghostrecon.com. They were labled GR PC patch 1.3 (GR English patch 3) and GR PC patch 1.4 (GR patch 4). I have no mods installed.

OK. The only other thing I can suggest is check your Direct X version. Also, what graphics card do you have?

I believe I have the latest version of DirectX v9, but I'll update it anyway. As for the graphics card, it's factory installed, Intel 82810E Graphics Controller v6.13.0001.3198, apparently, this is updated according to Intel.
