Colin
http://media.pc.ign.com/media/736/736230/imgs_1.html New screenies today. Next topic. ← Colin
buddhiraja73
Nice screens. Only thing I don't like is -- the gun is again large in size compared to the other objects on the screen and is somewhat to the right. In the 'helo' screen, the gun did not have these problems and quite a few had liked it.
joka
This might have been discussed earlier but I just noticed it now, the healthbar in the lower left corner. Is this to mean that there are 4 different levels of health ie. healthy-little wounded-more wounded-alot wounded-dead? As opposed to the healthy-wounded-dead in GhR1. Why don't they just add CS style number-health to attract even more people. Hopefully a standard rifle hit will reduce 3-4 bars.
DBrown918
I think these screens are 3 scoops short of a sunday myself. Not very impressive, but intriguing nonetheless.
buddhiraja73
Hopefully a standard rifle hit will reduce 3-4 bars. That is what's more important -- a realistic damage modelling. The manner in which health is represented is less important than how the health is actually affected by gunfire. Ulf had said in the chat that it would take one shot to the head and 2/3 to the chest to kill. That's nice. I am also looking for body specific damages like an enemy who has a serious leg injury would not be able to walk but would be able to shoot. Poita
Ok here is my feelings about the new 4 screen shots. I am not wow'ed at all by the graphics. Now . . . . having said that. I abandoned the 'graphics first' view of games around about 2001. Graphics are still important but they come about 3rd or 4th in importance to me after things like 'gameplay', 'atmosphere', physics and maybe a few others. I think the hand which holds the gun is about the most terrible i've seen in a fps game, reminds me of some of the god awful cars on Polling station. The textures on the map look very bland also and on one of those screen shots the fog is closer than in GR1. I do think though that the maps seem to have a hell of a lot of 'variation' of things, objects etc. If i had a choice between bland textures but a massive variety of things or superb HL2/photorealistic textures but a very limited number of them causing repetition throught the environment i'd rather have variety and bland textrues. In fact, although people knock the graphics in GR1 i'm still quite happy with them and i would have been happy if the next PC GR game had only a very slight tweak to the GR1 textures and just focussed all the resources and man power on the physics and gameplay improvements and innovations. I know this was never going to happen but graphics are just not a make or break issue for me any more. Something that makes me very happy about the screen shots is the very physical and heavy real world substantial look of the map. I get the impression the players wont be floating around like BF2 or Joint Ops. Nice to see some GRAW PC media.

If the enemies occasionally play dead after getting injured, that will make my year.
Colin
IGN Screenshots have never been the best, a few days from now they will posted on UBI and will look twice as good. This seems to be common practice with IGN and screen shots most always turn out better at a latter date. Colin

I know, but the Scar seems too big while the other gun did not. Also, the prototype gun was more centered as it should be.

The revolution of Artificial intelligence in gaming and the imminent frustration from being dumber than a computer is just going to put the icing on the cake for my new company. Razors-3Dge
I just dont like how the weapon looks, to highup to far to the right too larege, the rail looks bad and its dull.
Cutter
I thought the weapon wasn't going to be seen at all?? I must have misunderstood.
Kurtz
Hence, there should be a toggle to turn the weapon view off, especially if it is too blocky and poorly rendered.
Tortfeaser
Ok here is my feelings about the new 4 screen shots. I am not wow'ed at all by the graphics. ... Before 511 gear was popular, we wore nomex flight gloves, or when they started waring out to quick, tankers' nomex gloves which are thicker/stronger. I still wear the nomex flight gloves. Wear some for 6 months in the field then tell me they don't look like that screen. Edited December 3, 2005 by Tortfeaser

DBrown918
The hand needs work!? Who gives a crap about the hand, no offense, I want to see unique gameplay and functionality with lots of options. The hand needs work? How picky can you get? WhiteKnight77
Go back and check out my interview with Bo about a possible new view. I thought I said somewhere that he stated it looked to be able to be included in game.
RatoN
Bo : For SP it will be FPWV only, but there will be iron sights. The weapon pops up in to iron sights to zoom in to for more accurate aiming. While talking with Bo about the FPWV and expressing a dislike for it (and not just mine but also others), he started brainstorming right there in the press booth. We talked about options with the weapon view and he added it to his PDA/phone for researching it further. I donno WK, but you guys should have the Classic GR view. How hard could this be to impliment in the game? All they have to do is remove the guns graphics. Or is it a game desing decision from Ubi, and because of that Bo cannot give it to you?
