hrulabs 0
I run a dedicated GR server but things like disconnecting an unwanted player are unknown to me... Iv tried to find good documentation on administering a ghost recon server but no luck. Be nice if it were included with the game. Any suggestions?
WhiteKnight77 1
I have admin rights at the GR.net server, and it was explained to me how it was done, but when I tried it, it didn't work. If you have a bunch of regulars, you can enable voting to boot the player off. As far as gameplay, if you have a website with forums you can poll people on what kind of gameplay they like. I can tell you now that people are wanting more Coop servers to play on (yes that is true and does seem a bit of a waste of a good T1 or better line that the server is on, but it almost assures you of a good lag free game.) If you are on it you can adjust gameplay to teams when there are more than 9 players. Try different types of team play like SAR or siege. Doing that will make your server a bit more friendlier for people that join. For Coop games try setting the time to 15 minutes. For team games try 10 minute. Either way, if you choose to use respawns, give at least one (I turn them off for siege games to reduce spawn camping and don't care if people don't like it. I try to be fair for everyone and don't like people to be raped in their spawn sites, specially if defenders are at the other teams spawn area, that is not the idea behind siege.) If you aren't gonna be there, set the auto-start timer to between 1minute 30 sec to 2 minutes. That gives people a bit of a chance to chat and change weapons. Map wise set the rotation to random while you aren't there or for siege games (even if you are there.) Experiment with your server to see what the people who join it like. You just might be surprised at what they really do want.
hrulabs 0
Thx WhiteKnight. I do run Dedicated Co-oP strictly. the server is usually full in 10 min. People like coop and dont have alot of servers to choose from. Also to make it more fun I dont set a password for remote admin. People really enjoy being able to pick there own maps and game type. My only rules are coop only, and no players restricted from the server. I moniter my connection and have kept player to ip sorted out and that makes it real easy to eject and ban players. But hard to do and play to. If anything come up please post a reply. Weather control and on the fly mod control would be nice too. Ghost recon despritly needs a text console for the server admin. At the very least more administrative control.
NightCrawler 137
You need to post that IP in the Games if you haven't already done so, alot of us here prefer coop games.
