Questino about enemy accuracy

I'm playing on Veteran and I'm finding that the enemy is just ridiculously accurate (i've patched to 1.4). For example, on the 3rd mission where you're supposed to ambush the tanks, I get my guys up to the tracks and it seems that the enemy can pick me off no matter what I do. Even if I have my guys lay down, I still get nailed by some enemy that is so far off he's just a haze. It seems insane. Are they supposed to be THAT accurate?

the tango ai is definitely accurate, maybe arguably too accurate. but i think that compensates for their other shortfalls such as having a buddy blown up with a rocket launcher and not even notice anything happened.

no offense, but your cover just probably isnt as good as you think. for example, when you go prone and look 90 degrees to any direction, thats probably the worst profile you can give to tangos since you are perpindicular their line of fire. move forward a bit to get your profile aligned. i think the tango ai is also hardwired to fire on muzzle flashes. ive noticed that my chances of getting hit are markedly higher if im laying down heavy fire as opposed to using single shot precision fire.

just remember if you can see them, they can see you. wait'll you try elite.

alternatively use the space bar and this will line your body to the direction your facing :)

When they made the game, I think they went a little overboard with the "challenging ai". In Island Thunder It becomes even more "challenging". You can't go anywhere without getting smoked. Does Any notice the better the enemy ai gets, the dumber your team gets? You tell them to surpress, they don't! It doesn't make sense. They are supposed to be elite, right? they should have made them to be more 'elite'. Sorry, I had to talk to somebody who may understand.

Fling-man, I sympathize. I really do. My squad mates are the dumbest jerks....OK, what I hate the MOST about the AI? And this should be an easy fix...You hear a voice right behind you that says, "Got your back"...well, I look around, that that guy who's got my back is 50 meters away!!!!! His voice was like he was next to me. So if I hadn't looked back, I would have thought he covered me. I often have to advance a short ways, then look back and actually place my reticule on a sqaud mate to get him to follow me. I made it through IT without changing the AI for gun accuracy, but the game became much more fun when I changed the AKs accuracy to half as accurate as they were to begin with. Personally I think cover was, in a firefight, useless before- if the enemy could see you, he'd put one in your head. I hate that- if I'm surprised, why shouldn't this ill-trained militia-man be surprised too??? Just give him a bit of 'hesitation time' before he can target me with any type of accuracy. But he doesn't hesitate, he drills me....not very realistic, IMnot soHO.

But all of that has been said hundreds of times, it's nothing new. Yeah, you can beat the game on 'Vet', no trouble, once you take the time to make sure no-one ever sees you, and nobody gets to shoot at you- but it's more fun to hear AK fire directed at you, and be able to hit the dirt and withdraw. Before I had turned the accuracy down, I'd never seen this, but I saw a bad guy about to toss a greande at me, so I smoked him...the grenade was still in his hand, and it went off, dusting two of his buddies :hehe: I never would have seen that before, I would have shot, then gotten my head down and withdrew.

Well, I'm glad to see its not just me. :D Now, I didn't pick "Veteran" because I was trying to prove anything :) I just figured that anything less would be too easy, is that not the case? Or, is there a way to just alter their accuracy a hair? I'm finding that the way I complete a mission is by playing it a couple times and learning *exactly* where all the baddies are going to be and then planning my assault/escape with that in mind. That seems to take away some fo the enjoyment but if I don't do that, then I end up dead.
