cajun47
the navy seals mod has many silenced weapons. why not the original game?
Alfa FSB
Because thhey are not necesary and would ruin the gameplay. In SOF they are used mainly by snipers or riflemans to take out key targets like dogs and sentries not for a full scale firefight. SO there are no hostage involved ver little CQB and there for M9SD i used for sentry takedown the Mp5SD for CQB the SR25SD for sentry anihilation and that is all you will need even in real life. Zantar45
Silenced weapons generally used for high risk, high threat situations. Thats way you see S.W.A.T teams and S.E.A.Ls, SAS,GSG-9,etc. use them. The SEALs usually take silent weapons because they specialize in unconventional warfare. They go in do the objective, maybe hit their target hard and fast then high tail it, because they dont take enough ammo for a standout firefight.Unconventional warfare tactic is to hit you opponent when they least expect it and to disappear into the shadows before the know what happened. 462cid
So why isn't a good thing like silenced weapons that is good for the SEALs good for more standard troops who carry more ammo? Well, for one thing, I'd like to be able to hear where my buddies were. The more troops involved, the more potential for units not being aware of where their comrades are. If I could only hear the bark of AK74s around that corner, I'd assume it's only the enemy. If I could hear M16s and AKs, I'd know there were frineds there, too- I wouldn't just go tossing grenades around the corner, that might kill my friends. Also, if I were lost and hurt, the sound of M16 fire would be like a beacon pointing toward were I might be able to get help. The psyhcological effect of a lot of weapons fire shouldn't be overlooked either.
the.ronin
island thunder gives you some nice sd's. socom is the best thing since grilled cheese sandwiches. snipers get their pick of the viscious sr25sd or the practically silent m98 (?). a lot of people harp on the mp5sd but i seen people do mad stealth runs takin tangos out with one shot kills to the head. i like the explanations being set forth here though about why they are not as prevalant. skywarp989
I can see how they would ruin some of the gameplay-- the MP5SD that you et with Susan Grey really is a powerful weapon. On most maps on elite, I just put her on a squad by herself and go through the map and clear out all the baddies, then complete the objectives later. I don't know if the real mp5 can kill a guy from that kind of range, but in the game, if you can see them, you can hit them and kill them with it (sometimes it takes a few shots). If all your guys had supressed weapons it might make it too easy.
Zantar45
One of my favorite weapons is the MP5 with demo man, and I have done alot of killing with it then I have with the M16. I have seen people with almost 25 kills in multiplayer and they also were using the MP5SD. So its not really a question of how good the weapon is as it is too how good are you with the weapon. Zantar45
Oh I have fired a MP5 and if you get good with it you can hit targets pretty far away, in fact Navy SEALs practice shooting it beyond its intended usefull effective range as do other SF teams. If it wasnt any good to use, every military,SF, law enforcment agancy, etc. would want their money back, and they would be using Uzis and Mac-10s this looks fun
The_Slink
island thunder gives you some nice sd's. socom is the best thing since grilled cheese sandwiches. snipers get their pick of the viscious sr25sd or the practically silent m98 (?). What was before grilled cheese sandwiches? M98 ain't silent. It's got a weird sound though. A sort of hollow boom.
Alfa FSB
It is usless to take supressd weapons in a firefight you have only to loose i`m talking about real life or a server running my mod or other similar realism mod . SD weapons are for "making a path" thru enemys not for full scale battle .
Sgt.Crocodile
snipers get their pick of the viscious sr25sd or the practically silent m98 (?). The SR25-SD's acuracy sucks, specially when you cant prone (window in Embassy). I preffer the the SL9-SD. very silent, extremely accurate. Deadly toy. MY PRECIOUS!!!! Its a sniper rifles that shoots like an assault rifle.
Zantar45
If were talking about modded guns, I have to go with the FN Sniper, looks ugly but it gets the job done anytime. I prefer the UMP.45 SD or unsilenced, and for pistols you cant go wrong with the Mk23-SD courtesy of NMM-v2.0.Throw in a M14,MP5A4-SD,M60E3, and Im like a kid in a candy store, I will pick through the weapons for a few minutes ,generally making the host and other players mad.
