192.168.1.47 is your computer's internal IP. Have you been to www.whatismyip.com ? That will give you your external IP. What operating system are you using? Do you have any software firewalls? Are you behind a router?

 I'm using a firewall is Sugate Personal Firewall v5.6. Operating System is Windows 98 Second Edition 4.102222A. and no router.

OK, make sure that Sygate PFW is set to allow GR access to the internet in the control panel for the firewall. Also make sure it is set to allow GR to act as a server. If the firewall needs port numbers to open them properly, the ports are 2346-2348 TCP and UDP.

To get your IP with Win98, go to Start>Run and type in winipcfg then hit OK. An applet will pop up and display your IP (may need to be allowed access to the internet through your firewall).

OK, I made sure that the firewall will allow GR access to the internet. I also entered the port numbers. I'll try later to see if that makes a difference. In the meantime, can you tell me why my IP address is 192.168.1.47 but the default gateway is different (192.168.1.1)? Thanks for your help.

Any 192.168.xxx.xxx IP address is an internal IP. Your external IP's should start with 141.154.xxx.xxx.

I am connected to the internet via my DSL modem and use a router. Both the router and my rig have their own IP. The router has an IP of 192.168.1.1 while my PC has an IP of 192.168.1.100 and my other PC has an IP of 192.168.1.101. Both share my 66.xxx.xxx.xxx external IP. My modem keeps my connection alive at all times, even with my PCs shut down.

Just to expand on WK's comments. The IPs you report are typical when you are behind a router or using a shared internet connection from another computer. The router or the computer sharing's it's internet connection is the gateway and it has two IPs - an internal one, 192.168.1.1, and an external one, 141.154.145.202. (Internal refers to your local area network and external refers to the internet.) The computer running GR only has an internal IP, 192.168.1.47. Typically, in this case you need to configure the gateway (router or the computer sharing's it's internet connection ) to forward ports 2346-2348 TCP and UDP to 192.168.1.47.

Can you verify that you have only one computer and the DSL modem on your local (home) network?
