FA sear
It always seems pretty dead in this place. I'm not really up on the latest gaming news, so I wouldn't know, but is this game one that people are looking forward to? This game is the one that I'm looking forward to, so just wondering if anyone else is really anticipating the release of this game.
the.ronin
For the Xbox or X360? If it's for the Xbox, what's so good about it?
Deadpreacher
Yea im getting it i already paid for it just need to wait forit to arrive at my store next week. Again it's not the best game in my want list, but i did choose this game over BF2 becuase i didn't buy BF2 in hopes this game is more what i wanted. Maybe im crazy, but BF2 is just to run and gun for me so maken Operation Flashpoint: Elite look that much better of a game. I even hated the demo of BF2 becuase everyone ran around like a ###### just running and gunning. I Just hope the controls on the Xbox feel right for Operation Flashpoint: Elite becuase thats whats going to make or break this game for me. I know the graphics are not that good, but im only wanting this game for 2 reasons. 1. Game play. 2. The mission Editor. These two reasons alone puts this game way beyond BF2 in my book. Tactical Jerky
I have it for 2 days now and apart from a few things I think it's pretty good. I only played it a few times now so I don't fully know the game yet but the missions are like you never ever saw in a game before. It has HUGE maps with a long view distance and absolutely no run and gun gameplay. As you probably read before it has pretty dated graphics but you will get used to that quickly. One of the things that I don't like is that alot of things feels so clumsy in this game and another thing that really annoys me is that your vision is always a bit zoomed in, and this prevents proper moving inside buildings so don't expect nice CQC in buildings. I always hate it when people say: "I never liked Ghost Recon because you always get killed so quickly", but in this game you really have to know what you're doing cause if you don't you keep getting killed like I am now. Knowing you that shouldn't turn you off but be prepared you need quite some time to know this "game" if you could even call it. Overall if you give it some time I'm sure you will like it. Even if it's only to see from a distance the AI fighting against each other, a thing that's truly awesome to see. I do hope a sequel will be released on the next-gen consoles to make it up for the dated graphics and the clumsy looking things in this game. FA sear
Thanks Tchaikovsky. Honestly I didn't think that [GR] was good enough about enenmy taking you out, so having to really keep a good eye on the horizon sounds good to me. @Ronin You can't be serious right? If you still like [GR] then why would a new game on the same system be problem? Frankly better gameplay on the older platform is more desireable to me than a pretty looking game with inferior gameplay on the new platform. I think you would agree with that. This is supposed to be the most realistic game on a console, so IMO it is the game that all other console shooters should be judged by. the.ronin
jchung, rereading my post, I see where I made it sound like it wouldn't be worth it if it was just Xbox. What I meant was that I probably won't be getting an X360 so I really only care if it's Xbox. So far, I really like what I hear from the other posters ... it's just that I'm a bit disensitized now to military games after GR2 and GR:SS ... even Sniper Elite isn't really doing it for me because of the lack of squads. I will look into this more ... maybe a good Sniper Elite trade-in
Sup
OFP's amazing, Ronin, and as far as I know this is just an updated port. It'll take a while to get used to, but there's nothing better in infantry sims. (Squad control, too, comes later.)
the.ronin
(Squad control, too, comes later.) ← Thanks and that's good to know ... just read the latest preview on Gamespot and it didn't sound like there was squad control.

Earlier your're being given orders by your commander. (Not scripted either, once it comes down to combat)
FA sear
@ronin Got it. I hear what you are saying about Sniper Elite. Like I said, it is an entertaining game, but that is about it. No comparison to GR. Ironically I have been thinking the same thing to about trading this in for OFP.
Tactical Jerky
And here are some ingame screens of a co-op mission from last night: http://www.dutchghosts.nl/ofpe_m1.php The screens look a bit foggy but trust me this game is fun, it was one of the better co-ops I ever played. FA sear
Thanks for the screens. The graphic don't look too spectacular, but if the gameplay is even half as good as I have heard, I couldn't care less about the average graphics. FA sear
I stopped by two different EB stores and they said they don't have it. They said to check back next week sometime. Not sure what is going on.
Pej
It's good. A lot of co-op going on right now on XBL which is a really good thing. Hopefully it'll last.
Whisper_44
Picked it up yesterday, for me there is going to be a transition from Mouse/Keyboard to the controller, but first impressions are positive, I picked it up at Game Stop used the only one they had, I went to 3 stores before I found it. pz3
i used to fly the helicopters in OFP witha game pad, no better way IMO... this should of been out on xbox years ago IMO. Still looks like a good title for it.
FA sear
I just finished Sniper Elite (I know it took a long time, but I only ran it a few hours a week), so I'll probably trade it in for OFP. SE was a decent game, but IMO not worth keeping, so I'll have to try and find a copy of OFP to trade it in on.
the.ronin
Any feedback on single player aspect? In comparison to PC GR1?
Whisper_44
After some quality time with it this weekend, SP only, it's a valid port, I am having an enjoyable time with the story, still running through Cold War Crisis, vehicle control is iffy at times, for me, I am having a tough time in commander mode, still can't grasp all the options with all the damned controller buttons. Some translations are more difficult than others. Compared to GR1, can't comment on X-Box, since I don't have GR1 for the console. Comparing to GR2, it's more wide open, more choices with how to complete certain objectives, it's playing longer, I belive due to the story, and how its broken up, GR2 was a single day from start to finish for me, this is going to be more than a few, the mission editor while simplistic, is a decent tool, for trying your own things and creating re-playability. Pej
I haven't played GR1 on the Xbox (yet, I bought it recently because I was craving something different though it is still collecting dust while I work through some other games...) but from my experience with both games on PC I'd say you'll almost definitely like OFP:E if you liked Ghost Recon. FA sear
This place is really dead. Is anyone running this game at this point? I am still experimenting with this game on occassion. I just crossed the bridge in the Resistence campaign instead of blowing it up. Although I blew it up later anyway. There are just so many things you can do with this game. Is anyone else finding out anything new?
