Sup
I just downloaded Lost coast. There's no real gameplay (and enemies can't damage you), but it showcases the (amazing) HDR upgrade excellently. Plus, the commentary's pretty decent. Give it a try. Recon
Does it run a lot slower than normal HL2? It told me that my processor (1.8GHz) and RAM (768MB) are not enough but I'm downloading it anyway. You think it'll be ok?

You think it'll be ok? ← It said that to me (512mb RAM, 1.8ghz 3000+ processor) but ran just about exactly the same as HL2 on my system. Half Life Planet's forums were reporting some issues with slower computers, though.
WytchDokta
Yeah, the enemies kicked my ass on Lost Coast too. I found I could kill them alot easier though (seems just one magnum round to the chest would kill them this time, not like in HL2 where it takes 2 magnum rounds). As was said before, no real gameplay at all. I found I kept getting lost though.... Like when you get about halfway up the cliff and see those 2 Combine guys walking away (seemingly oblivious to the fact that you're there at first), nice firefight there.... But then some enemies come out from behind you, so I swing round and let out a withering hail of hot lead from the MP7 in their direction. It seemed that some of my rounds missed and hit the wooden stair and platform heading further up the cliff.... Then part of the wooden stairs and platform fell down (at the time I assumed some of my rounds had hit one of the supporting rods holding up the wooden platform/stairs, and therefore, it all fell down. So I'm like, now where do I go? So I reloaded the game, assuming that I needed to head up those stairs and not shoot them down. So I ran straight for those stairs and they fell down while I was on them. I think I had established that the stairs are supposed to fall down! I then found the actual way to go is to jump across the other side from where you meet the first two Combine guys. BTW, Lost Coast was originally part of the Highway 17 chapter in HL2. CrowmanUK
If you start the game, shoot the two combine soldiers and move to where they were there is a short ladder down the cliff, go down it and follow the path around, you can drop down into the water from there and make your way round to the jetty on the other side of the water. Things dont look too pretty over there, the buildings have one side, the bridge has no road and you fall through the jetty. I only found this out because I didnt go the right way or see the guy behind me doh!

WytchDokta
Also, when I was in the main building (the one with the big gun?), after I shoved some metal down into the shaft of the mechanism in order to shut it down, some headcrabs jumped out.... And one of them hit me which to my health from one hundred all the way down to one, it was a normal headcrab from HL2 too. The other two headcrabs that jumped out only did their normal damage so howcome one took my health from one hundred all the way down to one? WytchDokta
Could have been that one, but why would it reduce my health from 100 hp to 1 hp on the normal setting? (I've had poison headcrabs attack me on HL2 and they didn't do nowhere near as much damage (and yes it was on the same difficulty setting)) Edited November 4, 2005 by WytchDokta
Sup
Could have been that one, but why would it reduce my health from 100 hp to 1 hp on the normal setting? ← That's what the poison headcrab does. 100 - 1, then it recharges assuming you don't get hit more. WytchDokta
Didn't notice that on HL2.
Sup
Didn't notice that on HL2. ← You were lucky, then. Nothing's worse than getting dropped to one health in the middle of a large fight.
WytchDokta
For anyone that's interested, it is possible to get Alyx's pistol & Father Grigori's shotgun (shows up as a SPAS-12 but fires .357 magnum rounds) via typing the relative "cheat" in the console. You can do this in both HL2 and Lost Coast (although, typing in the code to get Alyx's gun can cause undesired FX, like the weapon model shows up seriously messed up). migryder
just played Lost Coast again. What a cool map that is. I'd like to see it Substance-esque one time. Head-crabs dropping down off the cliffs.....Hound Eyes around a few corners....a big gun ship.......how bout some of those zombies from EP1 running down the trail toward you? hmmmmmm
PwntUpRage
After finnishing lost coast, I think I spent a good 2 hours attempting to row a half sunk boat with a broken peice of wood across the bay. Finally got there and after exploring all the half made buildings I got stuck in a glitch trying to cross the bridge. Anyone else get there?
migryder
never tried it! great exploring there! I'll give it a try....HL2 - I have gotten behind the red warehouse on the waterway, where you can jump out onto that block and crane thing...if I remember right I got stuck back there by default...nothing to climb out but I gave up quickly, thought I might see G-Man back there or find a goodie... Def gotta try your effort there and see for myself, I think there may be other areas of Lost Coast to explore as well...hurry HL2:EP2! Your sig, Crysis? mig
PwntUpRage
! Your sig, Crysis? mig Yep, not sure if I can run it yet, but another one to look forward to!
