That's right folks, Quake 4 got a shocking 70% from PCG (US) this month;

PC Gamer (US) December 2005

HIGHS Loads of action; gruesome visuals; Q3DM17 with Doom 3 graphics.

LOWS Uninspired gameplay; Stroggification plot twist goes nowhere; no multiplayer bots.

BOTTOM LINE This old school shooter suffers from a lack of 21st century game design.

Okay, this actually kinda gets on my nerves. I have seen a number (that number is small but its the point that counts) of games get nocked down in the reviews because they have "classic" FPS gameplay. That is the point of the game, its not a mistake or oversight. They are making classic gameplay. This is very much the same as giving an Isometric game a 10% because it is "So 2d". The game is Quake, thats just what it is. It looks good and shoots fast.

Based purely on fun factor, I'd give it a 60%. (Probably why I'm trying to sell it!)

Quake 4 got 85% in the UK version. So what gives? As 85% is a pretty decent score imo.
