Specter 0
Does anyone know why I can't view GR.net in Firfox or Opera for Winblows, but I can view it in Konqueror, Mozilla, Firefox, and Opera for Linux? BTW, I have Linux on one machine ATM, and Winblows on another. It also won't show up in IE. It times out in all three browsers. But in Linux, it shows right up with no delay. This isn't happening with any other website, just this one. I have double checked all of my security settings(I don't restrict anything), and they are all good. As I said, this only happens with this site.
the.ronin 5
I am viewing it in Firefox 1.0.7 on Win XP right now ... just tried it in Opera 8.02 and it worked.
Specter 0
I'll be darned if this isn't the weirdest thing I have ever seen. And it just started today. Only this site, in all browsers on my Winblows machine. How weird is that?
RatoN 0
did you make any update since yesterday? (windows) Or any changes? *me, winxp sp1, firefox 1.06 everything is ok*
Dannik 43
First instinct is to check your hosts file, to see if something has redirected this URL for some reason.
Specter 0
No updates or changes for two weeks. Url isn't being re-directed, just timing out. Have wiped out all cache and cookies, as well as histiry for all three browsers. Same deal. GhostRecon.net is the only site that won't display on my Winblows PC. All others that I go to so far are normal and fast.
Dannik 43
Redirect may have been the wrong term. If, say, your hosts file has been altered to point gr.net to localhost, and you're not running a web server locally, it would time out, without an apparent redirect, despite the fact that you have been redirected. Just a hunch. It would have to be malware related, if that's what happened.

Not bad for a guy that runs no firewall, no AV, and runs his machine in the DMZ on a permanent basis, eh? I'm at a dead loss here. It's a problem in all 3 browsers, so i know it isn't some funky JS or ActiveX error. But it comes up on other Winblows PC's in the house that are behind my router NAT, and it comes up fine in Linux. I could understand it if I had made any changes or updates, but I haven't. And why would it just quit last night, especially with no viruses or malware present? Doesn't make any sense. firefly2442 0
Can you ping the server? If you aren't getting a connection... maybe a DNS issue?
Specter 0
Can you ping the server? If you aren't getting a connection... maybe a DNS issue? ← Thanks, Pat. You pointed me in the right direction. I missed a number when I set up my DNS servers in TCP/IP. I had the primary DNS server right, but missed a digit in the secondary entry. I guess it doesn't use the primary all the time. Thanks buddy ! !

My primary is 24.197.96.33, and my secondary is SUPPOSED to be 24.197.96.16. I had my secondary as 24.96.97.16. Edited October 12, 2005 by Phantm
