Sup
When Operation Flashpoint first hit the PC market a few years back, it quickly found a home in the hearts of diehard military enthusiasts. The game's representation of battle scenarios in the Cold War era were hailed as one of the most realistic experiences available at the time. Now the popular franchise is finally making its way to consoles with the upcoming release of Operation Flashpoint Elite for the Xbox, and I had the chance to put the latest preview build through boot camp. http://xbox.gamespy.com/xbox/operation-fla...t/657022p1.html
Pave Low
Yeah, saw that earlier, pity they couldn't find a better suited player to review it I had to rely heavily on the rest of my squad, as my usual "run-and-gun" tactics were all but useless here. If I didn't take the time to set myself up for each shot, I wasn't able to hit the broad side of a barn. Thankfully, the game does have a pretty generous auto-aim, so as long as I took the time to set up my shots, I generally hit whatever I was aiming at. Even so, not being able to shoot accurately and reload while on the road was such a departure from the norm in this style of game, it took me a while to feel comfortable with the combat. The game takes a much more methodical approach to combat than most others. Your other squad members will do their best to point out the location of opposing forces hiding in the brush of the landscape. Your team will also do its best to let you know not only where the bad guys are, but also the type of troops you're coming up against. This helped me out quite a bit during my time with the preview, as my eagle-eyed squad was able to pick out and pick off plenty of enemies long before I ever even knew they were there. *sigh*, they send a R+G player to preview a tactical game I suppose they're not used to it on the consoles

Sup
Exactly what I thought, Pave. 'Still, it's a good way to judge the realism. Hearing it from someone it shocks.
FA sear
@Pave Low Thanks for posting that. You are right though, they should have sent the "right" person for the job to do the review. Either way, it sounds pretty good.
