Newly installed game doesnt load, can't find CD

I've got a new laptop, Dell Inspiron 2200, so no reason for it not working is there? please advise.

Which addon packs do you have GR/DS/IT ?

What patch level are you at ?

Which game/addon CD are you leaving in the CD drive when starting game ?

did u get GR with an MSI vid card ?

I think its just standard GR, and standard GR disk. i've just patched to 1.4, but it didn't work before when unpatched.

please check packaging for exactly what version/bundle you have "Classic"or "Gold" etc and if it mentions DS or IT

Does the CD have "MSI"on it anywhere ?

Did it install ok ? presumably when you first inserted disk it autoran and the install game options came up ok ?

and did/has it ever launched GR ok (eg when very first installed)

What type of drive is in laptop CD/CDRW/DVD Etc

when the CD is in the drive can you "explore it" and see the files on it ok ?

how are you launching the game from desktop shortcut ?

When you put the CD into the drive does it autoplay and you get a "ghost Recon" menu box and the option to "Uninstall Ghost Recon" and "Play Ghost Recon" ?

...or does it only give an option to "Install

*if it doesn't autoplay, navigate the CD to the folder "Autorun" then click on "autorun.exe"- then what menu box options do you get ? "Uninstall + Play" or just "install"

are you using anykind of "NoCD" cracked exe ?

actually what is strange is the autoplay is the directx install, not the menu. it worked fine on my desktop.
