Zebb 7
I have a DSP 500 headset which has suddenly developed a loud feedback noise and if i try to run the hardware test in my audio settings i get the error message: Directplay voice setup 0x080004005 error, and after clicking on "ok", i then get: Cant open Dpvsetup.exe I have spent two days now trying out every crackpot answer i can google but with no luck, it did repair itself on one occasion but only briefly before returning to its current unuseable state. I know that its something related to DX but all my drivers and downloads are up to date and have been reinstalled at least twice already, if someone on here has a definitive solution i would be grateful, thanks ... GreyHaired 0
Did you run a "dxdiag", then click the tabs for DirectX files and Sound to see if there's an error message?
Zebb 7
Yes mate, everything comes back as "no problems" ..
warhawk 0
Are there any other sound problems? IE have you tried hooking a pair of speakers up to the sound card to see if you get the same problem? Also have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sound card drivers? Is the feedback constant or only when you are doing certain things? Stout Hearts |RE|Warhawk
Dannik 43
Warhawk, USB headsets are their own sound card, so speaker testing isn't an option. It's a standalone audio subsystem, alongside the existing PCI/onboard sound card. I've just been through Plantronic's KB, and there is nothing like your problem mentioned. I did notice they had live chat with support as an option, Zebb, so you may want to consider that route. It may be that your headset is in the process of releasing the blue smoke, and contacting the manufacturer might be the best way to find out, and possibly get a replacement, if that is the problem. Zebb 7
Thanks guys, i did try my other headset which does run off the souncard and i still have the same feedback problem so i'm guessing that something is interefering with my mic at some point but i cant seem to isolate it.. warhawk 0
Thanks Dannik. I didn't realise that this was a USB headset. Little bit better research on my part is in order next time. Stout Hearts |RE|Warhawk
Dannik 43
By chance, do you have the hardware acceleration in the performance tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices control panel set to none? Microsoft indicates this may be the source of the error message you are receiving.
Zebb 7
Sorry mate, no, i have mine on "full", i did read that, and the posts about editing the registry but i'm at a loss since absolutely none of them worked, it has started out of the blue and seems to have no obvious cause... GreyHaired 0
A German site mentioned it could be a Codec problem and linked to this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default..../dplayvoice.asp You did not recently install any new codec sets that could interfere? Zebb 7
Sorry for the late feedback GH iv'e been away working, thanks for the information it certainly sounds reasonable, i think TS installed some codecs when i reinstalled it the other day i will have to take a look.. GreyHaired 0
Well I searched some more and that file really is messing up and no one has a clear solution, other than in some cases the known c:// (you know the rest). Apparently also an MSN Messenger upgrade is sometimes installing a second dpvset file, but removing MSN Messenger does not solve the problem. One poster solved his problem though by blocking dpvsetup.exe in the "allowed programs"in the XP Firewall. It all very confusing, I hope you find a solution as - as said - there seems to be nothing but some blind shots that work for some but not for others.
Zebb 7
Lol, thanks GH thats pretty much what iv'e been reading as well, i have just about tried everything possible but with no success and as you say it is confusing because what appears to be a fairly minor issue turns out to be a major pain in the ass, thanks again all for all the help at least i know iv'e not missed something obvious in my hunt to solve this problem, i'll keep plugging away and hope that i get lucky with it eventually.. GreyHaired 0
Suppose "been there, done that" yet since your re-installed TS, did you check their FAQ? Found this one link re dvpsetup: http://forum.goteamspeak.com/showthread.ph...ht=DVPSetup.exe
