compman 0
Hello, can anyone help me, please? I am new to the gaming scene even though I am a computer engineer. I recently installed Ghost Recon And I am having a problem when I fire a bullet. The sound sort of studders with distortion but all other sounds work fine. I have a dual processor rig using a Hercules Fortissimo 7.1 for sound. Has anyone heard of this before? Second question, (even though it belongs elsewhere) I can't even beat the first mission yet and I am trying to figure out how to accumulate weapons and if it's possible to use weapons from soldiers that you have killed? Remember, I am new to this whole gaming scene so all of these damn keyboard controls are a bit confusing! thanks!
WOLFAnubis 0
Hey compman The sound issue --hhmmm Did you go into the options and enable EAX>? is so try to see if you take it off and what happens? I know if you have EAX on the hardware...the game will run its own EAX and mess up in gmae sounds with the two of them conflicting. GR uses its own .dll file instead of using the hardware capabilities. And as for getting new weapons and ammo and grenades...no go. sorry, but that wasnt built in to the game. I wish it was, but --ent eh Tell me if it works. if not we can try something else
Wupjak 0
The Sound issue, that's a tough one to troubleshoot. Ugh. If you haven't already done so (and you probably know this stuff since you're an engineer, but *shrug*): Make sure you've got the most recent drivers for your Herc card. Might also try going to dxdiag and check your sound acceleration setting. Tweak it up or down and see whether that helps/hurts/doesn't do anything. Oh, if it's an older setup (dual processor though, so prolly not) the sound card might not support EAX. Try disabling that, and/or enabling the 'alternate cache' setting if it's an older sound card. If your system sound has surround capability, might want to check the dolby protocol you have your speakers/headphones set to. I had an odd problem (very faint weapons sound from my own weapon) that went away instantly when I changed my speaker settings. I'll have to give up there since I've exhausted my limited knowledge/suggestions. On the gameplay side of things, I can offer this advice: Take your Single Player missions slowly. This game is so immersive, you'll be jumping out of your chair when you die. That in mind, play as if you're one of these guys. Make sure you're safe before you move. Switch between fire teams so that you don't have one team out of position. Use the orders map to tell your (goofy, incompetent) ai troops where to go and how to move. Oh, and go to www.tacticalgamer.com's forums, go to the SOP area and read up on their excellent tactics section. When you're comfortable with the controls (remember, go slowly and you'll be more successful - then you won't be fumbling for controls you can't remember in the heat of battle), you'll be ready to give the game a shot against humans. That's when it gets REALLY interesting. [shameless plug] When that time comes, swing by our servers and play with some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. [/shameless plug]
connie lingus 0
Dear Compman, This is to address the second part of your question. It seems like your playing the first mission in NK's Ghosts mod. If that's the case, then in order to pick up dead enemy weps, you must walk over the body back and forth till it takes. NK's Ghosts is only mod I know of that has this feature. Happy ghosting! Urban_Tiger 0
LOL, Doubt the guy has installed any mods as yet, he's saying he's totally new to the game and only just installed it and mentioning mods could just confuse the matter more !! Compman, as you start out saving frequently is the best way to progress with these sort of games, learning each map layout and enemy positions takes time for the most hardened gamers and they will also use frequent saves till they have learnt a map thoroughly enough that they can go thru the whole thing without saving once ! Whether they admitt it or not is a different matter rofl! You can either hit "Escape" and choose "Save Game" or hit "F6" whilst playing and it will quick save at your current position etc (use "F7" to quickload the last quicksave). If it comes to it and it's that much of a struggle, save after every encounter with the enemy, or if you go maybe what you judge as 20 yards with no enemy contact then save there too just incase something takes you by surprise around a corner lol. Use the save option often and you can reload at progressive points obviously, beats going back to the start or back 10 steps everytime too ! Move slow and check the ground ahead of you thoroughly till you learn the general idea and layout of each mission and you'll soon be storming thru them m8 ! Happy hunting! Cobblers 12
Sometimes I get an echo effect with the sound whilst playing GR, I do normally play with TS loaded up at the same time, so I don't know if this has an effect on it at all? Any ideas?
[Wx] Force 0
On some of the desert siege map ,there are a few sound zones that are not properly placed and thus result is that ear piecing sound ,,ouch that hurts.. and inside some rooms the zones are a little out of bounds,,
