sea 0
I currently have only a 56k connection and would like to be able to play online and join a clan. What are some of the best alternatives to high speed access for online gaming?
Dark Ranger 0
There are no alternatives to High-Speed Internet Lines...only 56K. Honestly, I'd go with DSL; Cable if you can afford it, though perhaps you are referring to the absence of High-Speed availability to your area. Stay away from Satellite Internet though. IMO, the technology is not refined to the point of distribution to the masses. Besides, on an extreamly foggy/cloudy day, you would lose a good portion of your bandwith. Fiber is too expensive at the moment, and is still being researched and developed. Try a search on Google.com for High-Speed Internet ideas. You could resort to ISDN if you had to. Hope this helps ya
snakebite1967 0
ive run cable and dsl , depending on prices ultra dsl is the best with an average speed of 3.4 mbs a sec and 1.5 upload you can host games for ppl on 56k with hardly any lag, most cable and dsl lines in canada are a 1 mb service so you may still have lag depending on who you frag with
Stinger 0
I've had MSN DSL and now have Comcast Cable. The MSN was more reliable and you could always count on it to be just fine till your modem fries and they send you a new one and then when it doesnt work they blame your microwave and tell you to get a new one . Comcast is ussually faster in my expierience but there have been a couple of times when I lost connection and had to call them, they had for some reason dropped my alotted bandwidth down to 1kb on each occasion for some reason it all a screwy thing The MSN I had was the same price as the Cable. And most ISP's will offer you a discount on cable if you use there T.V. service.
