Giampi 39
The scenario is this one: I extensively use Skype to communicate with my family and it works great also with my poor connection. My wife would like to have a wireless headset so she can speak while trying to look at that earthquake that is my son. Is the bluetooth the answer for my problem? what do I need? any feedback? Thanks a lot
CR6 0
A Bluetooth headset would likely work as well as any headset, but remember that it is for short-range only (avg 10m) so your wife may have to stay in or around the same room as the computer when talking. You know Skype has spyware right?
Giampi 39
You know Skype has spyware right? ← That's really new for me...... No adaware, MS antispyware nor Spybot detected anything.... Tell me you are joking please!
CR6 0
That's really new for me...... No adaware, MS antispyware nor Spybot detected anything.... Tell me you are joking please! ← Well, that's what I've read and heard, as I've avoided installing it on my computer to find out first-hand Do you really think the makers of Kazaa would invent Skype and distribute it "free" over the Internet out of the goodness of their hearts? There's likely some profit-taking somewhere in this scheme. Got this from Google: Part of Skype's EULA: 2.4 Third Parties. You acknowledge and agree that the Skype Software may be incorporated into, and may incorporate itself, software and other technology owned and controlled by third parties. Skype emphasizes that it will only incorporate such third party software or technology for the purpose of (a) adding new or additional functionality or (b) improving the technical performance of the Skype Software. Any such third party software or technology that is incorporated in the Skype Software falls under the scope of this Agreement. Any and all other third party software or technology that may be distributed together with the Skype Software will be subject to you explicitly accepting a license agreement with that third party. You acknowledge and agree that you will not enter into a contractual relationship with Skype or its Affiliates regarding such third party software or technology and you will look solely to the applicable third party and not to Skype or its Affiliates to enforce any of your rights. Do a search on Google to find more ... There is a disturbing trend in anti-spyware programs to ignore or "delist" certain spyware programs from their databases. Not sure if Skype is one of those. I have quite a few friends that use Skype and they are totally happy with it, and as long as you aren't having problems and it saves you money, then go for it!
Giampi 39
Really shocked by CR6 words I went to google myself and found tons of article about the Skype-spyware connection. However it looks like everything is due to the Kazaa parents of Skype. http://www.softpedia.com/progReportSpyware/4-5-31 Skype has created Skype-In and Skype-Out to recover the expenses of development and thus I can believe that Skype isspyware free as well. GreyHaired 0
I once started the install of Skype. My software firewall popped up, asking if I would give Skype permission to act as server (something in that style). That's how far the install got. I use "Firefly" (http://www.freshtel.net) instead. GreyHaired 0
As to the wireless: This is one of the sites that Google popped up with: http://voip-forum.tmcnet.com/voip-forum/fo...ts.asp?TID=3160
