with that photo, we have similar compound in the map i sent you screens of and a video linked below. the architecher of the prison on the hill top compound (complete with a cell and all) looks similar to the prison in the pic so we could maby do a new valley terrain and make it a valley bottom prison maby, there is a link to the hilltop one (a later version than the screens i sent) here http://www.geocities.com/worm_recon/Mines/wm03_wip.mpg , but i can see if i can maby get a map out of that pic. what do you think of the map in the video?

How many approaches are there to the prison? Can supporting fire, either crew served, organic weapons systems be employed? What I am looking at is game balance. The video is great but I would still need to see what surfaces can be mantled (clambered) in order to look at the approaches. One of the limitations of Ghost Recon was the inability to mantle certain surfaces so allocations have to be made in the map design.

Real world locations may seem impenetrable but there are always alternatives. Due to various limitations these alternatives may not be possible in GR, so map designers must make alternatives available while making such alternatives each have it's own particular price.

From the screens and information I have gleaned thus far the mod looks to break new ground and create quite a stir. The skins I have seen were impressive. The shots of the Afghans I sent you were from the Panshjir Valley. It was humorous in that one day they were dressed in local garb providing ob garem and the next day they were in uniform carrying AKs at Baghram where they came in handy getting rid of the press.

the map has a narrow pass (wide enough for players but not vehicles) on the large center hill on the road side of the hill that allows movement from the bottom of the valley to the top of the hill, there is also a couple openings allong the top edge of the centre hill that provide places of overwatch but not passage into the valley below where fire can be exchanged between the top of the hill and the bottom of the valley.

There have been a lot reports recently of other US Military and contractor hardware being used by terrorists in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The recent hit on Edinburgh Risk on Route Irish was an example. According to the AAR, the bad guys appeared to be using a hard suburban as their cover during the ambush.

There have also been recent reports suggesting new advanced IED techniques too, including explosively formed projectiles (EFP) for attacks against armored vehicles. The last time we saw terrorists using EFP against mobile targets was the '89 Herrhaussen assassination by the RAF.

Afghanistan and Iraq have definately turned into some rough neighborhoods.
