WhiteKnight77
OK, I finally got off my ###### and installed everything (or at least I think everything). When I start the game (had to find a driver for the key via the net), I got an error. This was in the temp file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?> <DATABASE> <EXE NAME="vbs1.bin" FILTER="GRABMI_FILTER_PRIVACY"> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="acwmpi32.dll" SIZE="138752" CHECKSUM="0x5B0ABC99" BIN_FILE_VERSION="5.0.4.108" BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="5.0.4.108" PRODUCT_VERSION="5, 0, 4, 108" FILE_DESCRIPTION="acwmpi32" COMPANY_NAME="MARX® CryptoTech LP" PRODUCT_NAME="acwmpi32" FILE_VERSION="5, 0, 4, 108" ORIGINAL_FILENAME="acwmpi32.dll" INTERNAL_NAME="acwmpi32" LEGAL_COPYRIGHT="Copyright © 2002-2004 by MARX® CryptoTech LP" VERFILEDATEHI="0x0" VERFILEDATELO="0x0" VERFILEOS="0x4" VERFILETYPE="0x2" MODULE_TYPE="WIN32" PE_CHECKSUM="0x0" LINKER_VERSION="0x0" UPTO_BIN_FILE_VERSION="5.0.4.108" UPTO_BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="5.0.4.108" LINK_DATE="01/08/2004 16:41:38" UPTO_LINK_DATE="01/08/2004 16:41:38" VER_LANGUAGE="English (United States) [0x409]" /> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="IFC22.dll" SIZE="196608" CHECKSUM="0xA2575C94" BIN_FILE_VERSION="2.2.8.0" BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="2.2.8.0" PRODUCT_VERSION="2.2.8" FILE_DESCRIPTION="Immersion Foundation Classes" COMPANY_NAME="Immersion Corporation" PRODUCT_NAME="Immersion Foundation Classes" FILE_VERSION="2.2.8" ORIGINAL_FILENAME="IFC22.dll" INTERNAL_NAME="IFC22" LEGAL_COPYRIGHT="Copyright © Immersion Corporation 1999, 2000" VERFILEDATEHI="0x0" VERFILEDATELO="0x0" VERFILEOS="0x1" VERFILETYPE="0x1" MODULE_TYPE="WIN32" PE_CHECKSUM="0x0" LINKER_VERSION="0x0" UPTO_BIN_FILE_VERSION="2.2.8.0" UPTO_BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="2.2.8.0" LINK_DATE="04/20/2001 21:39:41" UPTO_LINK_DATE="04/20/2001 21:39:41" VER_LANGUAGE="English (United States) [0x409]" /> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="ijl15.dll" SIZE="352256" CHECKSUM="0x5CC5195" BIN_FILE_VERSION="1.51.12.44" BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="1.51.12.44" PRODUCT_VERSION="1,51,12,44" FILE_DESCRIPTION="Intel® JPEG Library - Retail Version" COMPANY_NAME="Intel Corporation" PRODUCT_NAME="Intel® JPEG Library" FILE_VERSION="1,51,12,44" ORIGINAL_FILENAME="ijl15.dll" INTERNAL_NAME="ijl15" LEGAL_COPYRIGHT="Copyright © Intel Corporation 1998 - 2001" VERFILEDATEHI="0x0" VERFILEDATELO="0x0" VERFILEOS="0x40004" VERFILETYPE="0x2" MODULE_TYPE="WIN32" PE_CHECKSUM="0x5C30D" LINKER_VERSION="0x40000" UPTO_BIN_FILE_VERSION="1.51.12.44" UPTO_BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="1.51.12.44" LINK_DATE="05/30/2001 21:37:47" UPTO_LINK_DATE="05/30/2001 21:37:47" VER_LANGUAGE="English (United States) [0x409]" /> </EXE> <EXE NAME="kernel32.dll" FILTER="GRABMI_FILTER_THISFILEONLY"> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="kernel32.dll" SIZE="983552" CHECKSUM="0x4CE79457" BIN_FILE_VERSION="5.1.2600.2180" BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="5.1.2600.2180" PRODUCT_VERSION="5.1.2600.2180" FILE_DESCRIPTION="Windows NT BASE API Client DLL" COMPANY_NAME="Microsoft Corporation" PRODUCT_NAME="Microsoft® Windows® Operating System" FILE_VERSION="5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)" ORIGINAL_FILENAME="kernel32" INTERNAL_NAME="kernel32" LEGAL_COPYRIGHT="© Microsoft Corporation. Pave Low
I got an error. What was the error and at what point do you get it ? Have you updated to the latest patch and updated core module ? or are you still using the "original" core that comes on the CD (is very unstable and should be updated ASAP). Dan
Try installing the marx drivers from off the Core CD. They arent windows certified but that dont matter.
Earl
It's probably best to use the latest drivers from here: http://www.marx.com/ftp/pub/tools/CbSetup/cbsetup.zip There is a very similar file on the same page called cbustep.zip which is only for the USB driver, but I understand it's a bit dated. The cbsetup.zip which the link above leads to is larger, at 300kb, because it includes parallel and serial cryptoboxes, but is 2 months newer. For whatever that is worth, maybe it will help. There have also been various strange errors with SP2 and how it affects the cryptoboxes. I can't tell you anything useful about that, except that a lot of regular VBS players have not installed (or uninstalled) SP2. I wouldn't like to recommend that, but if nothing else is working for you, it's something to consider. I would also suggest posting on the VBS resources forum, there's a lot more experience there with VBS troubleshooting, somebody can probably offer better advice there. NightCrawler
When you get it working and all up to date get ahold of me pm and we'll play a few games, seems it's rather hard to find players at the times I'm available since most are either out of the country or up too late for me. WhiteKnight77
Turns out it was just the driver for the dongle. It runs now. I am at v2.07 so if there is an update, could someone tell me if that is the latest?
Whisper_44
2.07 is good, there is a beta for 2.08 but it has not been released yet Welcome to VBS1 WK

Who am I to second guess some people's "preference" when it comes to what they do (both literally and figuratively) with their free time.
