WideSweep 0
Hey guys, this is kind of a newbie question, but I figured I'd run it past you guys anyhow. Any advice would be much appreciated! I just recently dusted off an old copy of Ghost Recon Gold-Pack for the PC, and decided to reinstall for old time's sake. It works fine, and it's still a great game! It's the orginal with both expansion packs (of course). I decided though, that I was fed up with the pathetic stats the game gives you for the regular operatives, even after I've beaten all campaigns, and unlocked all "heroes". I've tried to alter the .atr files, but they seem to be protected in some fashion, making it impossible to save the new changes, (you know, it's the whole 'raising all stat values to 8' thing). Or at least that's as simple as it seems to have been for everyone else. How did you guys get around this problem, to change the stats for the "regulars". I just want a good a-team, rather than the ######-poor fellas they seem to be obsessed with sticking you with!!
Avey 0
Highlight the files you want to edit, right click and choose properties. Then simply uncheck the 'read-only' box.
Chems 0
Can be a length method thou, I find the best way is to open up the mission in IGOR, you may need to un Write protect these as well, and in the Mission briefing part or map part, there is a option of how many stat points for that mission, put it up to a huge number and have the sats auto assigned in game, and your guys should all be supermen for that mission. TRC 0
Widesweep, I'd highly recommend leaving the original files as they are. Make a personal mod, even if it's just for actors, copy the actor file over to your personal mod, then do as Avey said, right click, properties and uncheck read only (if you click on rifleman folder, sniper, etc you can change readonly for all files in folder with one click). Make a mods content file, just copy over IT or DS modscnt file, rightclick, remove read only, notepad, change mod name to widesweep(or any title you desire) and save. Name of folder file must macth name you put in modscnt file. Then your personal mod is selectable in the mods list and your actor stats will override original actors. Chems way is faster but doesn't help when doing firefight/recon type missions.
The_Slink 0
Also what you can do is mix it with realism mods, any weapons you really like, really nice skins, etc if you go with Avey's method.
