Rocky
Here's a run down on the Cross Com feature, as it stands now, for the Xbox 360. The final version may vary. Cross Com is a new feature for the Ghost Recon series that allows the player to communicate with other friendlies. It's a multi-window command interface that will be used to a high degree on the Xbox360. It will/may not appear in exactly the same form on current gen consoles, and the PC implementation is currently unknown. Cross Com is good for outgoing and incoming messages and works on three levels. The first level is for near comms. This is for communicating with your troops directly and issuing instructings. Your troops will reciprocate by relaying battlefiled updates to you through the Cross Com. You'll be able to call up an APC for example, jump in and direct him to your chosen location. The second level is for using mid range devices like drones. Using cross com you'll be able to call up a drone, direct it to a hot spot and actually view the area, in real time on screen, while controlling the drones movements. The final level, long range, is for calling in the heavy guys, such as Apache helicopter support. Using the onboard camera you'll be able to watch the destruction it causes, and hold off your assault until the Apache has done its work. Kurtz
Is this feature going to be in the pc game? I like the idea of having access to friendly NPCs and armor, recon drones like UAVs and heavy support like heli gunships. I don't like the idea of driveable vehicles but, I like the idea of calling up the APC to move to a jump off point.
Rocky
Is this feature going to be in the pc game? ← From what I read in the magazine, they were told that it would feature in the PC version, but whether the feature plays out like the all signing all dancing multi-window 360 version, or the simplified current gen version, was not revealed. NYR_32
The first 3 PC screens show the cross-com box, and I do believe one of the three features a view from some airborne thing-a-ma-jig.
Kurtz
I hope they incorporate this into the pc game, I am against driveable vehicles, the maps are too small, but, I like the idea of controllable APCs or tanks, if limited to 1 or 2 missions. Also like the use of UAVs and airstrikes, I would prefer to see the gunships arrive on scene than an unseen aircraft deliver. If supported, these features would be very effective in mods.
