Troy's blast cushion can possibly save thousands of soldiers lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, thus Americans back home won't have to mourn as many loved ones who lose there lives in war zones. GOD BLESS TROY HURTUBISE!

Hate to rain on your parade but even though the test were very impressive there are still going to be areas on vehicles where you can't pack on a 4inch thick "cushion", mainly windows. You would also have to considder how much weight would be added on if you armoured a vehicle, I've driven trucks with armoured cabs (including bulletproof window additions, all up it added about 1.5 tones of weight) and they handled like a pig!

Fair enough that this invention might increase the protection level of vehicles in the future but there will always be vounerable spots that can be exploited.

Question is though how much does his invention really adds in the ways of protection? Video claims the cushions has 16 layers of Kevlar, steel plates, aluminum plates and cheramic plates along with layers of his inventions.

Some of the tests showed are kinda shady aswell, especially the simulated RPG hit. Just strapping on enough explosives won't realisticly simulate a hit by an RPG as the warhead generally uses a shapecharge to cut through armour. And as for stopping 7 shotgun blasts, comeon! I've seen a 1 inch thick cheramic plate used in bodyarmour stop a 7.62mm AP round from 5 meters without even getting dented on the inside.

I know theres critics like u and maybe your criticism is warranted, but u gotta admit that the blast cushion looks very promising.

well in the shotgun video the bottom cushion fell off....

Also having them on the windows is going to effect visibilty. The good thing about bullet proof glass is you can see thru it....

It is good yes, but it does need to be worked on.

Yes I admit the tests look impressive but I'm still slightly sceptic to how much they really prove. As an added test I would love to see how it stands up against a shapecharge as I know how well those cut through normal steelplate armour. Heck I know how to make a small one myself that is guaranteed to cut through around 8cm of rolled steel armour plating, and the charge itself won't be bigger than a 35mm filmcontainer.

I might be a critic but if this is something that will help protect soldiers from any nation in the future then I'm all for it...I've been the guy on the line wearing bodyarmour and driving armoured trucks and I know how unprotected you can feel at times.

With any new technology you have to play devils advocate and try to come up with every possible scenario, if everybody just accepted that it worked and implemented it then you found out later salt water corroded it in a month then somebody would get a serious ###### kicking.

i had a feeling this guy would ultimatly start working on somthing other then bear suits... and it does look promising....

Now there are a lot of variables for this stuff to be applied and applied effectivly, and the technology can probly be vastly improved on.

It would be nice to see humvs getting a tub of this stuff surrounding the vehicle wich by the looks of it would most likely way much less then Steel armor...

it will still not most likely stop rpg or AT weapons from shooting threw it but it seems to do a great job for small arms fire
