WhiteKnight77 1
OK, I made my first model in GMAX and need some help. I made this: Click the pic for full size. I want to be able to use it in other programs, but need to convert it to a different file type, and get rid of the grid in the background. Any ideas how?
GRT 0
Rightclick on the Perspective word in the top left corner for grids. To put for a different format you should be able to click File/export.
SnowFella 8
Or just hit the "G" button to hide the grids....that's if Gmax has the same keymapping as 3dsm.
CommandoCrazy 0
Nice model! Btw, when can we see some in-game screenshots???
The_Slink 0
I thought it was gonna be a plane for use ingame.... Not bad though. What's it for?
WhiteKnight77 1
I would like to use it in Cool3d, but may not be able to as I can't save it as a .X file. I may be able to make just a graphic of it for use elsewhere though.

I may be able to make just a graphic of it for use elsewhere though. ← I'm not sure about Gmax but Max supports Adobe Illustrator file format for importing/exporting and I just checked the Cool3d site and it says that it supports that format as well. Since Gmax is a free program, it may only have the option to export as a .3ds file but don't fret. Full versions of max support the .3ds format as well and you could easily email the .3ds file to someone that has it and have them export it as a .ai file. Or you could just render the thing after applying a material and import the jpeg into the Cool3d program.
WhiteKnight77 1
GMax save files a .gmax extensions. Oh well, I will just set it so I can delete the background and use it as a graphic. I may make one that a bit more smoother.

osokdfgr 0
I can't help you with exporting, but: This is from a halo modding site, however the tutorial is very useful for rendering with gmax.
