WhiteKnight77
Last week, my desk chair lost a leg. It was a pretty decent chair even if it was old. The fabric only had one tear on the back of the arm where the back wore through it. This chair was fully adjustable height wise and how far back it would lay back. Well, the day came that I knew was inevitable. One of the 4 legs finally broke off and I damn near fell over in it. I took the wheels off it and set it back on the remaining 3 legs. What a trip it has been for the last 5 days. Monday, I walked up to the thrift (second hand) store to see what they had. There was a nice cloth covered chair there for $20 so I figured on returning after I got my check and picking it up. I had asked the resident manager if she would help me bring the chair back and she would but told me a different store had one for less money. I said cool, and asked if show would take me up there to pick it up after getting my check. No problem. Today we go to the other store and the chair was gone. Looks like I had lost out on the $12 chair. Now across the street, there is another thrift store and I asked if we could stop there. I got out as we pulled in front of the store and as soon as I walked in, there was a burgandy leather chair. 2 small rips at the back of the arms and I said cool. I like it, feels comfortable, but no price. I wheel it up to the checkout counter and get a price, $8. I asked if they took debit cards and found that they didn't so I looked in my wallet, $9. Just enough. Now I don't have to worry about my old chair falling through my monitor or speaker.

Dannik
Sounds similar to my recent obtaining of a new desk chair. My next door neighbour moved out, and put a perfectly serviceable office chair out to the curb for trash removal. Upon brief inspection, I determined it was missing a single non-essential bolt. Score! Not to mention they left an entire patio set behind, which, in the company of the folks who lived in the apartment below the folks who moved out, is now in my backyard. Heh. Cpl Ledanek
the king of chairs: more doodads than you can shake a stick at. ← We have 15-20 of those at my dept at hospital. Ppl at work didn't know much about the Herman Miller Aeron chair. Once I showed them how much they cost each, they soon realized why we cannot get decent raise at work. I told my boss, since I work soo much overtime for you, and get maybe a 3% raise yearly (over a 5-6% raise in cost of living and $2+ gallons a gas===I drive 57 miles roundtrip) the VERY LEAST he could do for me is put me on the TOP OF THE WAITING LIST for the "slightly damaged" clearing-house I'll break that chair down so it can fit in my Corolla if I dont get a raise this year. WhiteKnight77
If I were employed, I may have bought a brand new chair instead of shopping at a thrift store. It's a bear being out of work and needing a place to sit at your computer.

Or else I'm breaking out my swiss army knife and some phillips screw driver. Trunk is already open at the back ramp.

WhiteKnight77
My folks got a great laugh out of it too. Like I told them, I thought about getting a brand new chair, but being unemployed puts a hurting on that. I'm happy that I ain't busting my ass when the chair falls over. Chems
Wait a minute, am I the only person using a wooden chair with 4 legs and nice arms? I tell you its the most comfy chair Id ever need, I sit in it for hours. I will have to get a photo so you can laugh at it. @Cpl Ledanek, just turn the chair around, kneel on it, 1 foot down, and make like hair out of the hospital down the wheel chair ramps and all the way home, they will never catch you. Chems
Tehehhe, I couldnt live with out arm rests, I do have a office style chair at my desk, but my desk doesnt contain a computer its just for work based paper. It has adjustable height, and a recline fucntion, no arm rests. Not as great as my chair here. It does thou of course have the added entertainment feature of being able to twizzle round and round and going for runs around the house on its wheels (which includes 2 wheel brakes!) Hey if you're going to get hurt at work, might as well be a hospital employee
