Original Equipment Blunders

Am I the only one who finds the accuracy of the SR25 in Island thunder completely absurd? It's so bad I don't ever use Jack Stone any more. I looked at the .gun file and its prone accuracy is 5; that's 5 times less accurate than the Druganov! It also has the exact same stationary accuracy values as the standard M16, which is ridiculous considering the SR25 is a super-accurized AR 10 (the M16' s 7.62mm older brother). Is this a mistake?

Also, in every Rainbow/GR manual i've seen the Barrett is described as the most accurate sniper rifle in the arsenal. The .gun files indicate it is as accurate as the M24. Again, this is ridiculous to anyone who knows a thing or two about the real steel.

I know, these are tiny gripes, but I hate seeing RSE getting things dead wrong and repeating the mistake.

Not every sniper rifle will have the same ret size as the other ones, the SR25 is modified too be more accurate. just imagine it as a M16 that has a smaller ret and can zoom farther.

And in real life claymores are not supposed to kill the user behind it, in fact you can stand 10-15 meters behind it in real life and it wont kill you, the part that says''front towards enemy'' is just that, you face it that way and it will kill whatever is in its blast radius. True its not as powerful as the ones in real life, but would you want a claymore to blow up and hit you 50 meters away?

I think they got the whole sniper rifle recticle wrong in GR. The amount of time it takes to zero after you've been running is ridiculous. I understand the reasons though - RSE didn't want to make snipers that powerful and so have hindered them in the game. I would have prefered very limited ammo rather than time consuming recticle zero's. That way you couldn't just shoot willy nilly and would have to count every shot.

It's no real-life, it's a game. It needs to be balanced for gameplay. IMO.

Some people don`t get this YES GR IS A GAME IT`S REALISM IS LIMMITED BY THE FACT THAT IS MORE THAN A YEAR OLD AND THE PC SPECS IT CAN BE MADE FOR.

Imagine that if all the people want is implemented in Ghost Recon2 you will need a dual P4 3.06Ghz 1024 or more DDRAM and a Radeon 9700Pro just to play the game in 640*480 with the detailas at minimum oh and the game would weigh about 10GB.:wacko::wacko:

The way the sniper rifles should work is, when your not zooming the ret should be smaller and not disappear ( most rifles have quick sight rails)

the way of stooping people from cheating if quick sight rails were used would be,as soon as they start to zoom the ret goes big and then has to minimal-lize

thus stopping people from walking, dropping zooming, sniping all in one second.

Just a thought

IMO the developer has to strike a fine balance between sim and arcade. If the weapon characteristics are 100% then perhaps an element of 'game' would be lost. Thankfully, we're not subjected to morale issues, hunger, thirst or exhaustion; the things that affect real soldiers in combat. If it was like this [more like a sim] then the fun would be lost and we'd get bogged down in the realism.

RS has pretty much got it right in the realism are, but I still feel that prone to standing takes too long! ;)

Imagine getting shot while trying to drink from your canteen. Kinda reminds me of switching from my AK47 to Frags and getting shot. lol

Would it take longer to put the cap on the canteen , since its easy to take off and when you put it back on sometimes the lid slips off or goes on uneven.?

Yeah, some of the origonal wep's are a bit off, I usually play w' a mod on though - Aussies - AUS_Viper's (yeah, bias :D ) and the wepons are pretty spot on, the only gripe I've got w' sniper rifles though is that bloody ret spanning the whole screen the whole time, fair enough when you're zoomed in but when you're not I rekon a dot or even nothing would be pretty realistic.

Have you ever tried to go from prone to standing with 15kg straped on you it`s not easy and it is not fast i think it is perfect for a game the way it is now

I myself always wondered why Special Forces member could only hold 2 weapons. If you have a MP5 with 10 magazines, and a heart beat sensor- shouldnt you be able to move faster? Or do they fill the empty magazine pouches with lead weights to make sure every ghosts has to suffer by carrying the same amount of weight as the other members?

Look at the assault vest of the charachters Grey or Ramirez or the Riflemans don`t have pockets for sensors and 10 magazines of MP-5 9mm weight about 2-2.5 kg so that dosn`t make any difference in the speed but look at the original Tunney 4 M136 and 10 5.56 mags they alone weight about 30 kg so Tunney is carring about 40kg on him the movment speed should be slow.

But although the Weight as a variable is in GR .gun files there is no difference between 1kg and 10.000kg i tested it and you move just as fast WHYYYYYYYY :wall:

If you have 10kg weight on you from beginning, the game-engine has to check the weight constantly because you loose weight after shooting/throwing frags. For every actor.

It would be nice, but impossible for today computers.

Maybe they could do the weight by numbers?

Maybe a scale from 1 - 10?

Lets say your going to do a fast recon, and your weight is 5, what if you could drop lets say 6 mags and all your pistol+ammo and only take 3+1 in primary gun, then it could drop your weight points down 2 points making you faster.

Just a opinion.
