striker 0
Hi, I usually just lurk around here and enjoy the comunity in silence but now I've got a real problem. I've downloaded the 1.4 update for the Mac but can't decide if I should install it. Im running GR on a TiBook 450/512 MB (yup the original one when the Titaniums came out). The Book is to slow to run the game well in OSX, but runs fine when booting 9.2.2. If the 1.4 update would make the game playable in OSX I would go for it. On the other hand I don't want to loose the limping Tangos. Other than not beeing able to run in OSX I like the game as is, (frankly it's the best I've ever had), I only do SP games. So what do I gain, what do I loose? So, anyone having experience with, your advice is appreciated TIA Striker
NightCrawler 137
I don't know squat about Mac's, but if you like the way things are working and you're only playing single player, leave things alone. Just my opinon. Maybe somebody with a Mac with give you something a bit more satisfying.
jridg 0
I have found that the game experiences lots of unexpected quits with the new update. I have emailed aspyr - we'll see if they respond. Very aggrivating to have to save every few seconds in order to keep it alive with all the quits. Not good. I am running under OSX 10.2 on a Tibook
holman 0
the limping is not lost in 1.4 they took it out in 1.3 but added it again in 1.4 remember to install the 1.3 patch forst if you go ahead with it
striker 0
well, that about solves it jridg your Tibook has twice the mHz rate of mine, if yours doesn't run the game in OSX mine won't either. I was just hoping they adressed the problem every game developed for 9 has with OSX and fixed it. Nightcrawler you are right, I'm happy with what I have, doesn't look like it would get really better so why bother striker
jridg 0
I found that I have solved the trouble by turning 'down' the graphics. I had everything selected at max and was getting multiple quits. When I went in and put everything at medium the quits stopped happening and now it is running smooth and trouble free. I have not experimented with adjusting to see what I can get away with. I find that with all set to medium I don't notice any loss of detail so I think I will leave it and be happy with what I have. The worst mission was the one where it was raining in the city. I couldn't get anywhere - I also noticed it was very slow with all the processer intensive graphic work - that is what prompted me to turn it all down. I am very happy now - So, don't give up on it as you may just have the stuff turned up too high. Good luck
