dcalero 0
i have opened ports 2346-2349 on my linksys router my friend and i can connect but when he enters the room its says "downloading from server" OR is it "downloading server data" well the point is that when my friend joins it gives him that and it stays there at that screen. even if he host the game and i connect its the same problem. he has 4mb cable and i have 3mb dsl.i dont kno whats wrong. does any one has any suggestions... thank you
Dannik 43
First instinct is you have incompatible version of GR installed. There have been too expansion packs and four patches released since the title hit shelves. Can you be specific about your setups?
X69RZX 0
You have opened the ports, but do you have them forwarded to the proper IP? Also, if you are behind a firewall, all people who connect must have the box checked in their multiplayer options to use the port, IIRC.
WhiteKnight77 1
Have you ensured that XP's firewall is disabled if you are using that OS?
dcalero 0
i have disabled the firewall in XP and the firewall for norton 2005 we are able to see the game made but when one of us tries to join the game room it says "downloading from server" then it takes us to the multiplayer screen again kicking us out of the room. i installed ghost recon then desert siege then island thunder then i applied patch 1.4 i have port fowarding enabled for both routers, my friends and mine (linksys). i thought i was doign something wrong i am suspecting incompatibility so i guess i am going to try to reinstall ghost recon again on both PCs this is super annoying cause i never had any problems before when i had GR installed in a previous installation. its my friends first PC so he is eager to play online. WhiteKnight77 1
Keep the Norton Internet Security firewall up, but do set Ghost Recon in the permissions panel (I have no idea how to do this, I use ZoneAlarm) to have access to the internet. I suspect that when you disable the NIS firewall, it still blocks the game from being seen properly.
ROCO*AFZ* 0
If it is a linksys go into the port forwarding and uncheck block wan request. Also make sure your firmware is the latest. Is he connecting direct ip or though ubi? Make sure Ghost is using your local ip also, not your internet IP e.g. 192.x.x.x in the ghost recon multiplayer section. Also what are you using to server it> mass productions? Reconlog? Grunt? the ghost icon with -autoserve? or just hosting a non dedicated. Also does it happen on any other servers? Both of you try to connect to our server 141.158.133.236. It's dedicated 24/7 If one can connect and the other can't then you know which computer the problem lies on. X69RZX 0
I doubt there is any need to un-install and re-install anything else. You have a configuration problem it seems. Everything you have stated sounds like it is correct. I would ask again though, have you checked the use port box in the multiplayer options in GR? I would also agree with ROCOAFZ that you should both try to connect to a dedicated server to see which computer is having the trouble, it's not hard. If neither of you have trouble connecting, then you will know that it is your serverside settings blocking him from joining, or his lack of checking the use port box in GR's multiplayer options.
