HI all,

need some help from the gurus. I do some direct IP hosting with some friends, and normally we have few problems connecting. However, a new buddy has joined in and things have gotten screwy.

I have my linksys router port forwarded correctly and XP Firewall allowing game access, and he cannot connect. He has his (buffalo tech) done as the tech support people have instructed, and he still cannot connect. His XP firewall is also setup to allow. No connect. We even went so far as to bypass both our routers, so cable modems were plugged directly into computers, and firewalls shut OFF (we're either brave or nuts...)

This is where it gets weird. He could not connect to me, but I could connect to him. I have no other firewalls (he says he does not either), our cable modems do not have router/NAT features built in, and I have nothing else on my system to interfere. As soon as we plugged the routers back in, I could no longer connect to him and he still could not connect to me.

I have 2 other friends that I play with and both can connect to me no problem. They also have cablem modems and routers set properly.

Any ideas? Why could he not connect to me when there was NOTHING but a straight internet connection? no firewalls (hardware or software...), no routers, nothing but a straight connect to the 'net.

Help? :wall:
